Not too much to say yet, but I've picked up Zero's old idea back from Runestorm's Weapons Ideas section and decided to create my own design for the base idea and work with it for the BWCP that has been in planning for... well a long time. Not much to show, but I really just wanted to announce that work has officially commenced on the Ballistic Weapons Community Pack!! -- Weapon Name: XML20 Primary Fire: Select Fire 6.5mm Bullets Secondary Fire: 12-Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun Special: Ammo Counter Display (between primary and secondary) Capacities: 25 6.5mm , 3 12-Gauge Background: Designed for the recent Advanced Armaments Competition held yearly by the NEG, the XML20 is categorized as an entrant for the Heavy Assault Rifles Competition. Featuring a tactical munitions counter display and an underslung 12-gauge shotgun, it combines the features sought after by many of the NEG troops into a single weapon. Unfortunately, it's heavy due to all these things and weighs at an excessively high 14.9 lbs fully loaded. Initial testing proves the weapon to have quite low recoil due to the weight. |

Huh... thought more people would be interested in this, especially Zero... Here's a new pic. |

Brilliant job! sorry about ignoring it until now I tend only to look in chitchat and the idea zone... I like the idea of the underslung shotgun... always thought that would be a good idea for a sniper-rifle (you know how people sneak up on you) Raziel P.S I still have to learn how to mod... |

Heh, I check a lot in the weapon ideas section more often than any other section. As it stands right now, I've finished the model for the gun. Since the v9 pic I have shown, v11's got ironsights and a few other details on the display screen added in. So now on to the UV map, and finally the animations! |

Ooohh, that looks rather awesome. I'm only worried that the 'No Reloads' option will screw over the Ammo Counter. |

Maaaan that's looking good. Nice job on the model, it looks really good. One of your bests, I think ![]() Just a minor nitpick: Isn't the shotgun barrel a bit small inside? |

| Post subject: | Re: Zero's TS12 / XML20 (BWCP AR design!!) |
Hmm... the shotgun barrel MIGHT be a bit tiny... but lemme check a bit with my weapon scaling to real world shell sizes... err... yeah, it's really a lot smaller than it really needs to be. But hell, it's not like it makes a huge diff that I went with a slightly off scale on the shotgun I do try to stick to my own scaling sizes, but I'll go off a bit if it's for the better good of the weapon's looks. XDAs for the No Reloads option thing, that can all be sorted out with a bit of code methinks. |

Oh no. If people make too many AWESOME weapons it just makes my animation job longer |

Oh, don't worry, I still gotta finish with MY animations before you even have to worry about the 3rd person anims project you're working on! Daunting task you're taking... but it'll be well worth it IMO! Update: UV maps are well on their way to being done. I've got about 35% of it done, but that 35% is pretty much all the major parts you can very obviously see. Too bad images won't help you see what I mean by this... |

Tom10320 wrote: Oh no. If people make too many AWESOME weapons it just makes my animation job longer Wait, do you plan to make reload anims for every weapon? I think maybe if you just do some generic reloads, like Rifle Clip reload, shovel reload (like for tube fed weapons), break open, side arm clip, and maybe like a top fed something or other you should be pretty well set. Would be awfully hard to get every weapon their own reload. |

Captain - that was one of my original plans and one I will fall back on if what I have started turns out horrendously bad. But as I have time to kill, I thought: why not make individual anims? *pauses for thought* Yeah, you're right. Though I don't know whether it would be harder to code in individual anims or sets for different weapons. Perhaps I could release individual animations as a later release. Oh yeah, and excellent model, OCAdam! |

Thanks for the complements Kelly and Tom! -- Got the UV mapping finished, so now I just need to start on animations tomorrow and the weekend possibly. Those should be interesting... >_> Edit: Hell, I'll show a current pic of the weapon, it'll show a diff view from the other pic at the least! ![]() Edit2: Well, got the UV map done over the weekend and started anims. So far: Idle, PutAway, BringUp, and BullFire are done! BF is the anim for firing the bullpup part of the weapon, obviously. Still got another 9 animations to complete, so more work is coming along! Edit3 [June 1st]: Got the anim for cocking the bullpup. It's got a bug in UEd when I did export to the game for testing purposes... damnit. |

Major annoyances are being hit right now with Maya and my new computer... it's able to be worked around, but it's so annoying that it's kinda pushing me away from doing anything with the model... What happens is that when I am working in one workspace, the other turns white, rendering whatever work I do on one to be unable to be visually seen in the other, which I really need to be able to do. |
