Yeah maybe the name is confusing, but ill explain it here.
You probably have seen those special movies wich look real 3D if you put those funny glasses on.
Well, why not make it for a game? My uncle told me it was already tried, but then with alot of different images each millisecond. That gives you a real big headache.

So my idea was to get 2 beamers, point them on a white wall, give the player from UT2004 2 eyes and connect them to the beamers.
Put ur glasses on and play UT2004 3D!! ^^

well, you get 3d dvd movies to watch on tv, so in theroy it's possible, but i've no idea how!

Well you could do it wit stereoscopic view ( thats how they used to convert arial photo's into charts) you would need to have a fixed distance to the image projected by the beamers and the image needs to be exctly the same ( thats no problem though its the size of the image that could become the problem) I'll check it soon ( if i've got some time at my work)

This sounds like it could be fun, need to check into it sometime.

why just ut2004? could other games be involved?

I'm thinking how it'd be done, it wouldn't be UT2004 that makes it do that, but instead probably some stand alone program that does it instead.

The screen is made out of pixels. So theres 1 pixel with the left eye, then the next with the second.

This technology has something to do with sort of image-warping effects, the best resault is if the monitor itself has some true-3D capabilities than a program that is limited to the digital effects.

This sort of idea has existed for years, even a decade, so neither of you get the credit.

Well i checked it it could be done the size of the picture doesn't really matter but it seems that there is already something that could do make it seem like 3D.
It's something like spectacals with a fixed screen at it and the image is exactlly the same at left and right( the images are projected with small beamer like things ) The glasses in the spectacles enlarge the image that it looks that your looking at a regullar screen.
It is still quit experimental and because of the low grapic quallity of the image it could be useless for games

cant we make a special shader that has the 2 views in each other, and let the player see the shader.

Possibly. Talk to ATI, they've made crap-loads of shaders, they might be able to tell you if it could work.
