Anyone know the current situation regarding Canadian airsoft laws?
I know that airsoft used to be in a grey area. It wasn't illegal but not exactly legal either, and it you tried shipping a gun over the border they would more than likely confiscate and destroy it. You couldn't use your airsoft gun in a public area (park, government forest, field) and if the police were informed about you using your gun they had the right to take it and destroy it themselves. Has any of this changed? Why would airsoft be such a hot topic in Canada but not in a country such as the USA (no offense)?

That's my problem. I can't import one without high risk of confiscation, and a simple $50 pistol from the USA would cost upwards of $400 here. I'm not spending that much on a gun that I won't be able to use much anyways due to some retarded laws that only prohibit the use of airsoft in sanctioned areas.

Honestly, they are toys, not firearms or firearm replicas. Politics need to get this sorted out.

Update on my new guns:

I F***ing hate my new shotgun. small clip, bb's don't even go in the gun, instead they just sit there and fall out of the clip, no sights, and the cocking mechanism sucks donkey.

The Pistol is powerful if you can get over the fact that it's spring and not Electric or CO2. The Clip is cool, just press a button and out comes the clip. holds 14 6mm plastic BB's and comes with Camo BB's.

These weapons can still be dangerous provided the user is a excellent enough of a marksman,even though it would be extremely difficult a person could shoot out a eye with reasonable efficiency,a person like that could go on a rampage and possibly kill many individuals who would bleed to death.

Yes, but almost anyone could severely hurt someone with just about anything.
You could poke out someone's eye with a pencil, a hammer can break your finger, a heavy object can crush your foot. It all comes down to the fact that just about anything can accidentally cause serious injury, is airsoft just a hot topic because they look like real weapons and fire projectiles? If that is the case then why isn't paintball in the same grey area?

And as for someone going on a killing rampage with an airsoft gun, well it's pretty unlikely. Airsoft isn't intended to cause the target to bleed, mind you the person can bleed if the bb is shot fast and close enough, but unless you unload a few hundred rounds straight into their chest at point blank range, I doubt it would cause them to bleed excessively, and if you are going to do that, it would probably just be easier to go grab a knife from your kitchen and stab someone once and get more damaging effects.

Paint ball guns rarely can be mistaken for a real gun, while air softs easily could, with just a little bit of tweaking.

With that being said, one could, and many have, hold people at gun point with the impression that it was a real gun. This is why, at least in the U.S., there are orange tips on the barrel which are illegal to hide or remove.

Someone can take a cap-gun and use it for the same purposes. As far as I'm concerned, they look like real guns. Reversely, someone can take a real gun, paint the tip orange, then people would assume it's airsoft, when it really isn't.

I'm not saying airsoft should be 100% legal, I'm just saying there is no reason to ruin a perfectly good sport for many people over some silly situations that may arise. You go to rob a store, you use your airsoft gun and alter it to look exactly like a real one. You go up to the cashier, demand his cash, turn your attention away for half a second to grab lotto tickets, then before you know it, the cashier has a shotgun pointed at your face and you are left defenseless because all you have is a plastic-launching toy.

Yeah, I know. Its a bit silly, but as far as I know, thats where a lot of the reason lies in all the legalities. Pretty stupid stuff.

Mostly it looks like a real gun, the only thing that seperates a real gun from airsoft is the orange tip, or if it's clear you can see the springs or battery.

Yes, but like share_the_pain said, you could just get a cap gun and make it look like a real gun and do the same.
