so which programs does the Runestorm team use for: modelling, animating, skinning, sound, etc?

One program I do know of is UEd.

well, i was rather thinking of programs like 3ds max, maya, photoshop, painter x.
that they use UnrealEd is just way too obvious.

Since ShadowBlade was willing to help me with modeling in max I feel that he uses it too.

I have school stuff to do atm and stuff. Btw I would like to try XSI. :3 Someone get XSI and teach me. :}

I'd get into coding for UT3, but I'm far too lazy. However, I guess it shouldn't be too hard for someone who has already learned a bit in Java, VB, C, and assembly language. However, I'm used to writing "Hello World" type of code, wshere you write it, compile it, run it, and get a grade. Coding for UT3 is different, isn't it?

UT3 is java based, right? Anyone know of a compiler that would work with Eclipse so that the code compiles in real time as I write it?

I don't know about UT3, but we got a few guys thinking about making some stuff for good old UT2004.

Ask Xavious, he has Maya PLE ready for anyone. Don't worry people, it's free anyways!

Maya PLE is free but it's only useful for practice as you can't export or save in any file format that can be read by any program, including the retail version of Maya.

If you actually want to use your creations in games/etc, then you could try Blender. I never really liked it but then again I have Maya and Max so I'm set.

I've heard rumors that you can get a 'student version' of Maya for a couple hundred of bucks. I think it's the same thing as the full version but you can't use anything commercially I bet.

Wrong. You can export to unreal editor and then export it from there to ise or seomthing like that, I believe.

True. But that only works if you can get the UT2004 exporter plugin which is only available for PLE versions 5 and 7. Autodesk no longer distributes keys for either PLE 5.0 or 7.0, so even if you found a download link you would be SOL.

Unless you are acquainted with someone who has the key.

By the way, does anyone know if its illegal to distribute the activation key to a program thats free anyways..?

Probably, but I personally see nothing wrong with it. It isn't like they are losing sales or anything if you did that.
