well, when I meant to don't use violence is in situations like being in a car, walking in the street... but when someone comes to your house, if I'm not mistaken you are allowed to kill someone, since he is invading your house.
and if someone hurts someone from my family[size=7px](or is stealing my PC)[/size], I think that I would kill. or perhaps hit their crotch area with our sword. this way the idiot shall never have 8 sons that will eventually become criminals...

i think you need to do what you can to protect yourself and others from people with evil intent. They gave up their right to anything when they attack you. Things sure would be easier if everyone was reasonable..

I think its a huge pile of bull---- that you can get sued for protecting those you care for from some tool trying to steal or kill them. Thieves are thieves and killers are killers. They go for you, you should have every right to smack those suckers around for a little bit.

Well, no, it wouldn't be going too far since it would do absolutely nothing. Electrical current would not run through your body unless it completes a path in doing so. In order for such a rig to work, you would need to hook up the positive terminal to the knob and then ground the victim, somehow. This would not happen on a wooden or concrete porch, especially if the victim is wearing non-conducting apperal on his/her feet, like socks and shoes. Besides, any self-respecting hosue robber would wear gloves, so that would mean there's no electric connection from the victim to the door handle. However, I bet it wouldn't be too hard to take a batter and some wire to make a buzzer go off if the door handle is twisted or the bolt becomes disengaged. An even more foolproof system would just involve the action of opening the door to make two wires touch to set off the buzzer or whatever.

You know what I always wondered? How would the burglar, media and the law respond to someone who defended himself with a chainsaw he had in his house for some reason?

Would the burglar simply crap his pants at the sound of the chainsaw and run? What if he didn't back down, thinking he would be able to take care of someone with a chainsaw? What if you end up hurting or killing the burglar?

And how would media respond to this? Would they think the homeowner simply wanted to have something more than a baseball bat to protect himself with? What if he had it inside only for that night for some specific reason and used it as a weapon of opportunity? Would the media acknowledge this, particularly if the burglar was slain?

And what about law enforcement? I mean, who attacks someone with a chainsaw? Why would someone do this? People don't normally keep a chainsaw full of gas in their house, but should that even matter?

Its just some weird scenario that I've always wondered about. You could just as easily replace the chainsaw with some other odd, impromptu weapon, like a cattle prod or weed burner, something that would generate a similar response.

I mean, how often do you hear about a man defending himself with a chainsaw? How about a weed burner?

Also wondered this: If 1 or 2 guys try to rob / attack / etc, and you off them, it's ok. But if 30 - 50 try to off you and you get them, would that be considered something bad on your part?

Here in SA, there is an anti-hijacking device that is somewhat controversial. A gas tank or 2 is stored under the vehicle and a pipe aimed out either side of the vehicle. If you're being jacked, press the button on the floor near the pedals and you get a nice flame thrower firing out both side of the car.. effective im sure Theres something like more than 20000 have been sold.. so don't come here if you want to hijack

Criminal reaction: there's a weird guy inside this house, don't rob it!
Media reaction: you would be famous for 3 days or so. Jack Thompson would be furious thinking that you were influenced by DOOM to hurt people this way.
Law:if it was in your house I think that they wouldn't really put you on jail(since you were defending your house).
haha, now I'm remembering of what happened some years ago, where a guy got kidnapped, but managed to kill the kidnappers with a axe.

According to reports about Michael Carneal,a 14-yo who went insane after playing DOOM,Quake,Resident Evil,etc killed some of his teachers,what Jack Thompson did? He made these games for anyone older than atleast a 17yo. So I think he is aware of this game DOOM.
