well, let me explain something, this this Background i'm using, when im using firefox and right click to save as background, it happens to have a higher contrast level, much like the images i see when using FF lately. whereas when i save to my images folder and save as background from the Viewer the image is normal.
so its i safe to assume its a firefox issue.

Did you do that last Firefox upgrade to 3.1? I haven't, so it might be a bug with 3.1, or so I am kinda led to think ATM.
