Indeed, the lighting effects that the Doom 3 engine can produce are spectacular.

Have you tried any of those graphical enhancement mods? People have added things like Bloom and Parallax mapping!

I tried out the bloom mod, it does make things look better, but sometimes it gets too bright.
But where is the parallaz mapping mod?

I'm pretty sure thats what the devs od D3 wanted when they made it.

Yes, but it is a shame that Doom 3 itself could use a lot of gameplay facelifting.

Yeah i heard that the AI is pretty bad since it only pops up right behind you and attacks.

The AI was ok, it easy to modify it though.
What I was talking about was linear and repetitive levels, with such a powerful engine, I expected some more gameplay variety.

yeah run and gun gameplay can get tirring at some point (excpet for UT2k4 of course).

But when I read the comments, I had no idea there are so many idiots that download mods. I almost laughed out loud when some people are whining over FPS hits and blaming the mod, not their old computers that can't handle the parallax mapping.

The author of the mod explains it in the link above, it is basicly a more realistic bump map. I don't know in detail though, I'll have to read again what the author said.

well i just checked out that think and man is that a cool peice of software.

Yes, it's Talon, Tommy's pet bird that died many years before the aliens kidnapped Tommy.
It is just Talon's spirit, the storyline explains this as you progress through the game.
