Hah I tried to play this at a friends place, and I love the Simcity series dearly but this game just sucked. Plain out suckage on its part. And yea that little movie at the end was great haha.

halo is over rated and over hyped why douse everyone like it the only fun thing about it is multiplayer the campaign is only 8 hours long. and if a game has single player and multiplayer, mutiplayer doesn't mean anything compared to single player. lets look at thief:the dark project that game had a good 14 hours or more of gameplay and its probity one of the most unknown underrated games out there, right next to ss2

Errrm... Multiplayer functions are the bulk of most FPSs, Monkey.... Overhyped? Not really. Overrated? By some idiotic individuals. It is also UNDERrated by some who really don't know what they are talking about. I tried one of the Thief games, by teh way, and I can't remember which it was, but it was TERRIBLE. Guards instantly recognized you, civilians at a crime scene also instantly recognized you despite never witnessing the act. Anyways, I can't say much more, as I have no idea which of the games you are reffering to. Halo 3 has great singleplayer if you ask me, and it can take pretty long depending on difficulty.

I've never really been a big fan of Halo, myself.

The first reason is that I refuse to buy an Xbox, original, 360 or any that are released in the future, because I've already committed to Sony and Nintendo. The over-hype of the original game also put me off the series. Oh, and FPSes aren't always about multiplayer killfests. I love Half-Life 2, but Team Fortress 2 is kinda stale for me. Any game needs a balance of good single-player and and good multiplayer.

This is my only gripe with Epic. Their games have GREAT multi-player, but they haven't had a good single-player game since the first Unreal.

Oh, and also, to me Halo 3 gives only one new thing: teabagging in HIGH-DEFINITION!

Halo 1 was never over hyped, the single player games are ok, but much more fun in co-op, and you guys seriously need to play some games in a LAN party with friends. This is where Halo shines. While Halo 3's game play for MP isn't really much different, its mainly just a bit more polished, a few new game types that are really fun, plus further customization for MP like a map "editor" (more like just tweaking; adding, moving, removing, etc. various vehicles, pickups and decorations is about the limit) rounds it off as a very flexible, very fun LAN game that can be customized to your group's personal specs.

When you want LAN parties, PC's can be a hassle with networking, all PC's meeting performance specs, installing games, compatibility issues, acquiring enough CDs, the obligatory PC that won't work, setting up, finding space for each PC, transporting PCs, etc.

If you just want a bunch of friends to get together and shoot stuff, you definitely want to go with a console, and its hard to beat Halo's 4 person-per-screeniness goodness.

HALO would've been awesome if it was first intro'd in the PC, then ported to XBox... Though HALO3's The Forge gives the game a much needed "Mod and Mutator"-factor, it's still (first and foremost) an unpatchable console game.

More like,unmoddable,patches could be made and they will force it down your throat,much like steam.

Steam is perfectly fine, its people who create the problems. If you don't want updates, disable automatic updating. Don't want to go online to play a game? Go in offline mode...

And whats with that "patches that should've been with the game IN THE FIRST PLACE" line?

1.Yes Half-A-Frikin-Hour,ive got broadband and it took me Half-A-Frikin-Hour to update the Orange Box.

3.No matter what you do,you start up steam and before you can check that box,it is already updating,and once it has detected updates you can't stop it.Hell,some times the update checkbox doesn't even work.EDIT:forgot this... offline mode?You still need to be online for that.

Patches are made to fix bugs found after release...

If a bug was found prior to release, they'd fix it before it ships out. But since the bugs were found after release, they fix them after release date, needing a patch to implement the fixes...

As for updates, I'm doing it on a school's wireless network. Its not exactly fast compared to your typical home connection, but I never had to wait half an hour for an update.
