Heh I was young too when ripping off heads with the ripper It was all very fake blood and gore, not even coming near to the real stuff... I loved the game Quake 3 Arena when I was 6 or so. (still do, real fast action game)

I started with Descent II when I was four years old, besides the fact that Descent II can give you motion sickness and make you throw up, I am a perfectly happy person!

I believe that if video games are played on a stable mind they can be good for relieving stress because your killing Virtually which is always than killing in Reality and its all fake anyway.

i remembered I played Unreal Tournament, Diablo, Diablo II, and all sort of hellish stuff when I was small. Look at me now, I'm still doing alright.

At that age a person isn't capable of playing more complex games, nor realizing that violence is bad. Kind of like very young kids don't know the difference between bad and good smell.

In all honesty, some games are bad for young kids to play, but violence isn't the worst thing out there. In my opinion, excessive foul language is much worse, because just listening to the middle schoolers on the school bus illustrates that kids desensitized to how offensive they sound. Besides, it can ruin game play, for example, I like True Crime:New York, but I end up playing with the voice volume turned all the way down because every other word is f***, but I miss all the useful intel.
Sorry for the rant, but it all goes back to Jack Thompson focusing his furor on the wrong target.

No, he's just getting annoyed at the amount of profanity spewing out of little kids. Quite frankly, I am too.

First off, swearing achieves nothing more than saying what you want to say with less offensive words. In many cases it achieves less.

Second off, you just sound stupid if half of your words consist of one damn word. Just sounds to me like the person has no vocabulary ad has to use some stupid word to fill in the blanks for words that are too complex for them.

Methinks cursing doesn't factor much into the violent tendencies of a certain person, but bad parenting does by a large margin.

When parents mistreat, ignore, spoil, and/or neglect their kids, those can lead to their mental instability as they grow up.

Cant argue about that, parents play a major factor in violence among teens and possibly even adults in some cases. And swearing is just plain annoying among kids who have an "Extended" vocabulary in halo and other online games.

Its possible to launch yourself up using a grenade but no saying you'll live...well even then I don't think the shockwave would have an effect either.

Either your corpse or your body parts fly up in the air, but that depends on where the grenade explodes. You won't fly very far if it explodes next to you I'd say, but under you. . .

Seriously, what is so funny about that? I speak with good grammar because I read, like doing other stuff, and I'm not a loser who feeds on potato chips and sleeps on his desk and wakes up just to play 2 minutes of Counter-Strike. When people swear I think they believe that it will boost your ego when all it does is show you are a loser who likes making people angry.

I think the problem here is not video games, but your mental health. If you are always pressured and put down by others you will take pleasure in those violent video games, and then you start thinking that the people you kill are the same guys who push you around. Then you laugh because you think they deserve it. When they humiliate you in front of all your friends then you cross the line, and end up going to jail or something. If you can take insults and not care, then you use the game as a stress reliever, not a "Murder Simulator" as Jack Thompson would describe it.

But i do agree with the bad parents side of things...
same as guns don't kill people, people kill people.

It's all a matter of choice....but how you choose depends on how you were brought up....it influences your decision making....

An unstable mind has the ability to think: "I have a gun in my hands. This means I can play GTA in real life."

A stable mind would right away throw the idea away because such mind can see the bad things that would happen to you if you decided to play GTA real-life style.
