Sure, go ahead, but if you install more than 2 anti-virus programs on a single computer, it is going to make it more unstable than plutonium. You'd basically do something that causes way worse problems than most viruses.

Look at it this way; would you install video drivers from both ATi and nVidia? Of course not.

I'm personally not a big fan of registrations, signatures of me are all over the web in various databases, and 99% of them I never use except just for one-time purpose.

A good registry cleaner was Reg-Freeze, but now it's not free anymore, they got too much success.

Otherwise, all antivirus mentioned here are really good.
Well, depends on the experience you have with an antivirus to tell which is better than another.

Simply read comments about some anti-viruse, you can see poeple who really love a precise one, then next comment you see someone nearly insulting the same anti-virus.
But all agree Norton is more annoying than useful, lol

I highly, highly recommend NOT to install registry cleaner programs. These programs are known to cause more damage than increase in performance or anything.



Well, it's kind of different though. The virus program you install gets certain authorities on your computer. Also, the virus program holds a database of virus signatures. When you install 2 virus programs, they will notice eachother's uncommon privileges and eachother's virus signature databases. Virus programs also tend to fix themselves up when they get damaged, and scan for the cause of the damage, leading to the other virusscanner as well.

In short, you create some sort of looping war when you install 2 virus scanners.

And you know what happens when an infinite loop begins on a computer with finite resources to work with?

Virus scanners are heavily implemented into the operating system as well, so it can cause serious instabilities if there are two of them that fight for the "rank".

In short; installing 2+ virus scanners on one computer is a terrible idea. (unless they are specially designed to be compatible with each other)

And I couldn't agree more about those damn registry cleaners, people are possibly destroying important data without even knowing it.

what if the registry cleaner had been installed before the purchase? Wait... i thought that spybot only detects and kills adware and spyware-not viruses. my other program goes that(deals with viruses), kinda!?

i also noticed that before the Spybot was installed my other antivirus program was not working but the Spybot FIXED IT!

I use AVG 8. Uninstalled Norton on my moms PC and installed AVG for her as well. I just trust it better.
