The purpose of a weapon is not to cause horrific pain, dude. You want to incapacitate or kill your enemy as quickly and efficiently as possible. While a chainsaw would be incredibly painful and incapacitating, it would probably be a little slower than a simple blade to a vital organ. I mean, why carve through a guy's ribcage when you can just slip a blade between the ribs?

It's also heavier than a simple bayonet, is loud as hell, draws a lot of attention to you, and is rendered useless when its power supply runs out. Plus, if you're not careful, you could ♥♥♥♥♥ yourself up pretty badly, too.



Why would 4 barrels necessarily be better than one? Sure having to reload a grenade or rocket between shots would be slower, but there would be very few situations in which a man would need to fire off four explosives in quick succession while retaining us of his standard assault rifle. It would just be a lot of dead weight in most situations, and would make the rifle harder to aim.

Also, wouldn't mounting a rocket launcher on top interfere with aiming?

4 barrels basically so the gun's attachment doesn't need to be reloaded as many times. Also, multi-targeting system could be introduced. While it'd be heavy, and better off as a weapon of its own, it's still something of an idea to actually USE the 4 sides of those 4-sided PRs.

As for getting in the way of aiming... use it on an M16 that has the M4 front end. The sights are a bit higher on that I believe. That and it's not exactly meant for practicality of all situations. It's like taking an AR for sniping, or a sniper for urban warfare (up close and personal style maybe...). Hmm... I am getting ideas for some weapon ideas for my old assed weapon pack...

Just because the 4 rails are present doesn't mean you need to load them all up.

Besides, it wouldn't be all that difficult to occupy all 4 rails without using 4 grenade launchers. you could have an assault rifle with grenade launcher on the bottom, laser and tac light on the sides, and the grenade launcher's sights on top. Or a vertical foregrip on the bottom and an ACOG sight on top.

How about this:

The RLs are on either side of the gun (so it's only 2 barrels basically), a laser targeting system attached to the bottom, and the electronics computer being on top. There, all 4 sides used by the RL attachment. These 4 sided attachments are usually added to the barrel area I think, so scopes and such are still viable on the mid-mounted PR.

I really don't see how the hell a rocket launcher would even work on an assault rifle. It would be a waste to fire an expensive rocket propelled grenade from a tube small enough to fit on a rifle. It would be inaccurate, weak, and would burn your hands on launch.



Grenade launchers are definitely more than enough. A rocket-propelled grenade launcher just wouldn't be worth it. What is a rocket launcher launcher?

Yeah, it's Adam Wan's orig pic, and he was supposedly working on something of a movie (anyone even know anything about that in the last 2 years? I haven't heard a word of updates.... PM me, don't post here. it's absolutely off-topic). If I had XBL, I'd have a modified picture (resized for sigs) of my Peugeot 908 that I repainted. The RL attachment (not RL launcher...) would work pretty well if you use the correct warhead. How about a thermobaric warhead? That would make it more powerful I think. The blastback is easy to fix. The rocket doesn't actually fire off it's engines until it has been pushed out by a few meters (like a grenade launcher attachment does, except without engines firing to make it actually keep in the air). I think the RPG7 does this exact principle too. Is that right Smash?

The RPG-7 builds up pressure in the tube, the rocket ignites in the tube pressure builds and away it goes. Grenade launcher would suffice as a m203 launcher is more like a small rocket when it fires. A miniture rocker launher would be great... bu we live in a world where wieght is an issue. Also we have sufficient weapons that do what they are designed to do.

So an RL attachment would be very similar to how the M203 works anyways...? Weight issues suck on guns... but that's why this is BW, and not real life!

ANYWAYS... Chainsaw bayonet. Why do some people just not get it? No, it isn't practical. Yes, it was done in GoW. No, it isn't as effective as a regular blade bayonet (unless you had some unruly trees... ever see the original Evil Dead...?).

You just have to get past that and see the kick-assery of it all.

Besides, its what Bruce Campbell would do.

Why is it kick-ass, exactly? It's big, loud, and inefficient, and both tools would be far more useful separate than together.

And how effective would a chainsaw be against a shambling undead army, anyway? It's weight would probably tire you out faster than, say, an aluminum bat or golf club, and it's useless when it runs out of juice.

Besides, when faced with your basic apocalyptic zombie movie scenario, it's more important to keep away from the unrelenting zombie horde or keep them away from you than to actually destroy them, in which case a set of wheels or an aluminum bat would probably be more useful.

Plus an axe and crowbar are the best anti-zombie weapons anyways. Aluminum baseball bats bend surprisingly easy and your typical set of wheels run out of gas. All that aside, the chainsaw is the best thing to use when you're already on your way to the grave and want to take out some zombies before you die. It makes for an awesome death scene, plus the noise will draw the zombies to you, giving whoever's left a better chance to get away.

I know that's how I wanna go at least.

A chainsaw is meh, yes it's bloody awesome, but it can be heavy as a pack of melted giant marshamellows.

Gun are the way to go, they kill a zombie fast and it keeps your distance from the flesh eating dead.

Guns are for pansies. Real men kill zombies in their underwear with some sort of melee weapon.

Or with their bare hands.

And a katana? Seriously? A sword needs proper and serious training to be effective. A sword needs regular maintenance to remain effective. A dull sword is useless. A sword takes up weight, weight that is used solely for killing zombies.

An axe or crowbar requires little training, as it has enough heft to take brains out without a need for finesse. They can be used as *GASP* tools AND as weapons. When an axe is dull, it still has enough weight focused on a small enough area to prove useful, and a crowbar doesn't really get dull. They require little maintenance, and will not break, except maybe a wooden axe handle if you don't oil it now and then. But I personally got a steel handled one, so I'm good. And its not like its hard to make a new handle, like my steel handled axe.

And you go ahead and get those head shots. Just don't go crying to me when your ammo runs out...

Besides, like I said earlier, chainsaws are for when you know you're gonna die anyways and want to go out in a blaze of glory. For the rest of the time you just use an axe or a crow bar.

If you aren't in arms reach of a zombie, they aren't much of a problem. If you are, you better make sure you don't need reloading, and you'd best be sure you can maneuver that gun well enough to make it effective. And if you are completely surrounded in zombies anyways, it doesn't really make much difference what you use, you're still pretty much screwed.
