Nah, only the shield gun and impact hammer suck, BW melee weapons I'm rather indifferent to, I may use them a lot, but I only prefer the skrith blades over the other melee so I can have a bit more of a challenge. (I'm not too good with them )

The thing about the impact hammer is that it is hard to get a kill with it, which makes getting a kill all the more satisfying.

Anyways, we should be discussing bad stuff about UT3, not UT1. Let's continue that, any takers?

Game itself will probably be $50+, then I need a complete overhaul for my rig, that's gonna be well over $500...

Your current PC will run it, but it is guaranteed you'll need to significantly lower the graphics settings to get playable framerates.

Yeah, that's probably true, but I am getting tired having to lower my settings to near minimums just to play UT04 with 20 FPS...

UT2004 ran great on low/medium settings for me when I had a 1.2 GHz AMD Athlon and a 64 MB Geforce 2 MX with 256 MBs of memory.

Yeah, something is really whacked with my PC or something, not sure why it runs that horribly...

i do lowest seting with bw and i still get a terible framerate

The same is with UT2004; 733 MHz. Below that and you'll be lucky that the game runs at all.

What was so amazing about the Impact Hammer that everyone ignores the Shieldgun? From what I've seen and used of each one they're pretty much the same thing functionally, just with different graphics. And not to sound like a fanboy, but the shield was FAR more useful than the "deflecting" jabs.

And the Assault Rifle does suck next to the Enforcers, but shaking our obsession for handguns for a minute I think it was really a more "Unreal" starting weapon than a pistol. Seriously, how many games start you off with a freaking assault rifle and grenade launcher? When I first saw that, I thought it was way cooler than the generic pistol that every game gives you. I'm not arguing either way here, cause I like 'em both, I'm just pointing out something nobody ever mentions.

I remember reading somewhere that they're going to use the UC2-style one with the burstfire for primary mode, which only shot sniper rounds when zoomed in. I really hope they do, that one was a brilliant design.

To thetrunkmonkey: That's because the AR wasn't a primary weapon. The starting weapon isn't supposed to be as powerful or as fancy as the main weapons. Halo showed us what goes wrong when the pistol can match up with the bigger stuff.

Does anyone know if the Enforcer in UT3 will be able to headshot? I don't recall the old one being able to.

i doubt it. Seems more of just a weaken your opponent until you find a better weapon.

I always thought it was lame that what is basically a Sniper-lite can't headshot...

well maybe it can get head shots, we just have to wait and see, which hopefully means no two weeks statements from Mark Rein.

They should made all bullet-based weapons do a Head-shot, not just those that are solely for snipers...

I doubt it, because they fire pretty fast and will likely be dual wieldable like in UT99.

I don't see why people like the impact hammer any better than the shield gun, but then again, I'm a fan of the shield gun. Did I read correctly in that their bringing back the stinger?
Never liked the assault rifles, but I did love using dual enforcers. Hopefully, the shock rifle is back to how it should be.

The chock rifle seems to be sticking with it's roots, yeah. And yes, they're bringing back the tarydium stinger to replace the minigun. Bio rifle's staying the same, I think, assault rifles are gone, replaced with something that looks nothing like the enforcer but will probably work similarly, but probably weaker per shot with higher rate of fire.

Anyways, people like the impact hammer because it felt more solid than the sheildgun, and also looked and acted like a more devastating weapon. In addition, it's ability to deflect non-scanhit projectiles was more useful than the sheildgun's incredibly weak and attention-grabbing sheild.
