Ah, the "weak" shield argument. You mean the shield that can totally stop two full-on flak shots or all the shock beams / Link plasma you can eat without dropping? I can agree that a piston is a more visceral attack than a shockwave, but its still the same function (also, IH=110 damage, SG=150 damage).

The shieldgun encourages defensive gameplay, which is irritating for all participants of the match because the goal is to kill, not deflect incoming fire.

Every weapon should be able to make a headshot. Just hit the head and it should fly off!

Yes. the WEAK sheild argument. Do you know how many rockets the impact hammer can deflect? How many flak chunks, and even flak nades? Yeah. The sheildgun's only defensive advantage is the ability to block scanhit projectiles.

But, to me, it all comes down to what feels like a better weapon. The impact hammer feels like a visceral mutilation device. The sheildgun feels like a novelty toy. (though I'll admit it's weapon description conjures up some pretty awesome imagery)

Well, I'm with the shield gun still, it makes more sense to me. Wouldn't the projectiles just blow up from the impact hammer?

Anyways, I am kinda bummed that they're dropping the minigun, even though the stinger is still better. Which unreal was it that had two sets of spinning barrels for the minigun?

Enough argument over whether the shield gun or impact hammer is better. Lets just all accept that a chainsaw is better than both, and when one comes out for BW, that will be everyone's favorite melee weapon.

No lame projectile deflection, just pure, loud, gory fun.

It's sad that Epic lost the talent to make weapons feel violent and powerful, now they can only describe them that way.

Eh... the Shield Gun already does Impact Hammer stuff. But better. The Shield Gun did seem to be more Unreal than a hammer... I'm also a Shield Gunner. I won an online match using one only once. Against tanks and the such... only the damn Mantas and Raptors and Scorpions killed me... and even then, I'd kill them when they got close and I jumped on their cars (Scorps at least).

I'm not going to argue which weapon feels more "unreal," because both of them are pretty damn cool. The shield impact kinda reminds me of the way the Vikings would bash their enemies' heads in with their bucklers; maybe that's why I like it so much. You just got killed by a device designed to prevent death! It's more satisfying to me (and humiliating to the victim) than killing them with a device obviously made to crush stuff, which builds on the humiliation of being killed by the melee weapon.

And I am looking forward to the Stinger, although I'm not crazy about the nine-barreled design. I really liked the design it had in UC2 (and Unreal, I guess, I've never played that), it looked... I dunno, bladey? It looked a lot "sharper", like its name and the razor-sharp shards it fires.

Yeeeah. Bladey.

Unreal's design was best imo, it looks so badass. I'd love it if UT3 beefed up the size in first person view and of course the model, skin and sound effects.

But we all know how good Epic are at making weapons sound lethal.

I want to see some more about the new vehicles, especially the Fury.

The Fury is a sort of flying jellyfish-type Necris thing with a bunch of tentacles and lasers and ****. Sounds pretty awesome.

The Necirs seem rather dark and eldritch this time around.

That just means they're gonna be all the more fun to kill!

And I'm sticking to the Axon vehicles. (Or BW vehicles. ) Those Necris ones seem much more fitting as something you go up against.

Fury is good, Darkwalker is good, Stealthbender: no clue at all.

Well Xavious, looks like you're going to be going up against me. The Necris vehicles have an irresistably evil look that's sure to put the fear of god into the enemy's heart.

They crapped UT2003 & 4 big time, UT99 and Unreal were masterpieces. I hope they'll bring originality and good game in UT3.

2003 was the crappy one, 2004 was better than 2003.

The only reason UT2004 sucks less, is Onslaught.

I don't care too much about the Necris themselves, I was talking about their vehicles. I like the organic style more than the standard-looking Axon ones. So if I look like a Necris, it's because I'm in one of their vehicles, and you're not going to attack those with a chainsaw.

What chainsaw are you talking about anyway?

Eh, I'll take down anything with a chainsaw.

And the chainsaw I'm talking about is when RS makes one and ports it to UT3.

A chainsaw ain't gonna take down a vehicle easily.
