they may not be BW yet* but there still a runestorm mod, and if they dont want people modding their new content its there choice. Im sure if we were the ones doing all the hard work we might see it the same way too.

Dont' forget me modding after BW2.1! It really started after Kab thought a lot of weapons were unbalanced, so he just wanted balance. A long while later, I started to make the total opposite of Kab's mod, a much higher powered version of BW. However, I'm getting the feeling there is no most powerful weapon in my mod... only 2 guns won't kill in one headshot with an opponent having 100 health.

Kelly's mod also popped up, but we don't know too much about it besides actually modifying the guns with different firemodes (I'm not counting my Experimental Slug shotguns).

Edit: Kelly's mod popped up about 2 months after mine started. Or at least, the topic did.

I wouldn't say total opposite. After seeing how weak the automatic weapons are compared to some of the single-shot pistols I've been ramping up the power for about all of the weapons.


What is this "cooking" business with UT3? Will I be unable to take your textures and modify them like I could with UT2k4? Is code similarly handled?

Well, I originally intended to not do any bit for balancing, until I found the shotguns to do overly high amounts of damage, even at a good 30 feet away! I don't recall your pistols doing over 100 dmg for each headshot on near all guns... do yours do that really?

'cooking' is something you do before final release (if you're clever). I essentialy 'bakes' all the content in you package into some highly compressed format, and i'm not sure how it works in general, but you cannon edit any of the content in a cooked package.. i think it bakes all textures together into some sort of shader.. it's bizzare, and does not allow you to edit any of the content, becoz of its' baking methods.. if you want the original content, you'll have to ask the owner Code is not cooked, so you'll be safe there...

How is the facial animation system in UT3? I saw a few in-game screens of the Hel character and found her deadpan expression somewhat UT2004. Is there any way to get her to emote a little?

I don't think their is ingame... any of those shots released by Epic had some software to do the faces.

you can do facial anims, but it requires custom anims I'd really have to look into it more to know for sure.. you could add some bones to the face and change the physics, but that could look really shit

cooking is quick.. 1-2 mins..

making LG took about 3-4 weeks.. SG took about 1 week and a bit.. Hel about 2 weeks.. yeah thats about right...

to get the old SG ins was bout a day or 2.. including code.. it had no normal maps though..

I agree with UP there. Of course, you can get one of the resident UT3 coders to do that for you if so desired. Now too bad I'm not one of those UT3 coders... damn computer.

If 2 days was enough to get a weapon in, in raw form, that is pretty damn good. Maybe extra 1 - 3 days would be enough to get a weapon in; including redesign and polishing to reflect the extra features of the new engine.

If that is accurate, it would take a few months to get BW fully ready for a transition to the world of Unreal Tournament 3. Not too shabby.

That is exactly true, a few of the best BW weapons in UT3 would blow the competition away. if that can happen...

I'd much prefer it if BW was completely rebuilt for UT3 from the ground-up, with little to no actual content from BW2. It would take a lot more work, but it would also ensure maximum quality and "freshness".

I think a 100% new BW3 would be well worth the wait.

I think they should port over BW2 as BW2 and then leave it as it is. Then start making their new creations.

with the new engine im sure some polishing can be done to show off the content on the more powerful engine. Why would you not want to play BW 2.1 on UT3? It would just be making something great even greater.

I agree with Kaboodles, if i want to play BW2 then i'll play it on UT2004, i would rather wait for a whole new set of weapons than play the same weapons that look a bit better

Just wait, i have faith and trust in RS and if anyone else does too, they should respect the decsions of the devs and back them up all the way
