Is it just me, or are all the new games coming out pretty much just for the Xbox 360? I guess I can understand that since Microsoft has the market for consoles right now, they wouldn't want as many of the games for PC (although I'm not sure how much say they have with it) to take away from 360 sales. I just hope some of these games will be released for PC some time. I really want Dead Rising, but I don't want to get a 360 just for that. Granted, the 360 is extremely powerful and I have nothing against it, its just that I don't like consoles and I wouldn't want to pay whatever price it is for it to play these great looking games that are exclusive to the 360. |

Yeah, Bill's giving the PC Gamers the flush until Vista comes out. But yes the 360 is extremely powerful, i tried PGR3 (Project Gotham Racing 3 duh) at best buy on the 360 and boy was it awesome. ON another note, i'm buying a Xbox 360 around the 25th of September, and i'm gonna buy NHL 07, Dead Rising, PGR3 and Burnout 3 for it

Vista is the next generation windows! and so far it sucks. Being lucky enough to be in the field, we test it at work and so far it gets a total thumbs down. But it is early days still (and BTW, office 2007 beta also sucks). Console's started the gaming scene, and they will always dominate it. Yes, there are lots of articles on the web and in magazines. BUT consoles stay around a long time, and get outdated (PC's very quickly catch up and overtake) technicaly. It's just something about the simplicity of a console that makes it attractive to so many people. BUT PC's are not going away, and there will always be games for PC's. The day publishers stop producing games for PC's, is the day the publishers fold and disappear! |

I realize that consoles eventually get outdated, but it just seems like with the next generation of consoles they have coming out, aren't going to get outdated very soon. So, until they stop making so many games for the consoles only, I guess I'll just complain and keep procrastenating on getting a much needed upgrade for my computer... |

Not really, Vista is the next operating system from Microsoft, called Windows Vista. Why would MS create a new OS, specially designed for gaming, if the PC gamers are doomed?

Im just gonna throw this out there because its talking about the 360. I am an microsoft and windows folllower. In my opinion I do not like Sony's systems releating to the incident with the dreamcast. R.I.P Dreamcast

Well, yeah, I think sony sucks, too. I can't even understand how they managed to stay alive with the XBox to compete with. I played Soul Calibur II on all three systems. Xbox was best (of course) with game cube close behind, but the Playstation 2 wasn't even close in quality or speed. So Vista is a gaming based OS? Awesome! Oh yeah, forgot to ask, is vista a windows based os? Windows games can still play on it, right? |

I'm honestly not sure what sort of backwards compability will be in Vista, but it is a Windows based system but it is made from scratch I think. I know for a fact that DirectX 10 is not backwards compatible, but games in the future will support DirectX 9 for a very long time so don't worry about that yet. But to run older games, maybe we are going to need emulators, and that ain't good... |

Yeah. I certainly hope it works for windows games. Doesn't seem like it'd be very popular if former windows users wouldn't be able to use their old collection on it. |

Ok, Vista is a "windows" based OS. They seem to be marketing it as Vista, and not as Windows Vista. I think they are trying to push it as a whole new OS, but in reality it is good old XP with a new interface and some nice useless features. It's still only in beta, so I'm sure there will be a lot of changes we will see. The beta we ran at work was as slow as a dog, and that was on a nice nippy P4 3.2Ghz, with 1Gb Ram etc. and it just seemed like XP with new interface. They say there is a lot of improvements, but they weren't obvious in the beta. XP was good and solid (well for the Windows series anyway). But as usual it requires an even bigger PC to run it! I suspect they will have plenty of compatibility between Vista and the 360. Just makes sense to do that. It's already halfway there, the 360 runs nicely on the net, so I'm sure they will make the 2 able to talk. As for DirectX, they are always improving it, but it is up to the game developers to use it. Given the hardware in the 360, it wouldn't suprize me if the 360 OS has some form of DirectX, which would make it a lot easier for game developers to release on mulltiple platforms! I'm also sure that DirectX 10 (when it shows up) will be able to run on XP. Just plain stupid if it doesn't, and the kernels between the OS'es are not that different. We wait and see... |

ok.. I'm really stupid, but how exactly does the Xbox work?? is it like a PC only for games? does it have mouse keyboard and all that? i was under the impression, that it was less "consoley" than things like the PS.. and i'm definetly for PC's here.. games will never die from the PC scene, especially since the PC is the only thing that can make them!! if u play games nad do nothing else, buy a console.. if u are like us, and like to do more than just play, then a PC is the only way to go..

XBox is a box full of crappy outdated hardware, XBox 360 is a box full of ok hardware. But it only took the PC a few weeks to kick that one in the ass, so... But Cyberax is right about all the points he mentioned. But I think he is a bit judgmental about the slow speed, I don't think that is suprising when I see what processor they use. |

Thanks. Yeah, well...we'll see...if you look at it from a companies perspective, you can't just go and buy fancy hardware everytime theres a new version of the OS ! But yeah, MS's betas are also normaly slow anyway, we'll just have to wait for the next beta and final to see what it's actualy like

The final version will tell the truth, but remember that you need a 128 Mb graphics accelerator if you want to use all the fancy GUI effects. |

Oh believe me, Windows ME has such a bad smell that a nose-less person can fall into a coma. Vista won't beat that, no matter how much of a disaster it may turn out like.
