As the title says What do you most like about Ballistic Weapons?

I like the really high detailed weapons that don't effect the preformance of the game!

I can´t say I like anything specific, but I have to say the gun models and their animations are just outright masterpieces.

i guess thats why my comp lags getting me 5-fps when i play, and when i turn EVERY thing down to lowest it finally plays ok...................

but, it makes it look crappy.

(every mod besides this and Chaos work fine with out lag, chaos lags for me cuz of the spammy weapons and my comp isn't fast enough to process every thing.)

James.. for youre own sake, get an upgrade (if u have cash)..:laugh: the has been improved for 1.7, so u should have a reprieve soon

i'm glad you all like BW.. :) its gonna get much beta still tho:evil:

ok, how the hell do you upgrade????

my dad sais you have to go out and buy a new fricken computer if you want a better one?

you think i have $1,500 laying around??????

(btw its mostly my comp isnt fast enough....)

bjossi, wtf. i can play ut2004 on almost high settings (why am i getting lag? BW doesnt have spammy weapons like Chaos). is BW's graphics really that different compared to other mods?

Something is very wrong with your computer, because I get nearly identical performance with default UT2004 and Ballistic Weapons. :dry:

I get that 5-fps thing too. I heard somewhere it's the processor that's getting overloaded from the high weapon detail. The polys and all.

Although it may be the Graphics Card, and I don't have enough money for a decent one, working at f!cking McDonalds

Your 1 Ghz is the problem, my processor is 2.8 Ghz, even if Mac processors are overall faster, mine is still much more powerful.

can u upgrade Macs??:blink: if not.. OUCH.. that not cool..

the polys in BW dont seem to make any difference.. the only things that may slow things down, are

1; the texture detail.. most weapons are made up of several skin, at 2048x2048, or several high res skins.. (the railgun is made up of 2 2048x2048, 1024x1024, and a 512x512.) that is gonna chow your RAM!!

2; effects.. lots of our effects are way more immpressive than the stock ones.. higher detail textures, and more particles.. again RAM, and slight CPU..

we are trying, and suceeding to improve this in 1.7..

i have a 1.1ghz cpu.. and a geforce 4 and 384 mb RAM.. BW makes it about 5-10 frames slower than standard UT2k4.. not to bad really..

The textures are pretty high resolution. :ohmy:
It must be the 1 Gb of memory and my 256 Mb video card that is giving me the advantage to use full texture quality with no slowdowns.

By the way, the effects you guys created look much better than standard UT2004´s. The stock ones look very cartoony if you know what I mean. :S

yeah.. we know wot u mean!! and we try to make our effects better..

1gb RAM.. i gotta get me an upgrade, especially with UT2k7 round the corner.. imagine BW with UT2k7 engine:evil:

The weapons do the kind of damage you'd expect with how they look and sound. If you get the drop on an enemy, you can be rewarded with a kill without getting scratched. B) It's much better than spending several seconds doing absurdly unrealistic acrobatics while unloading dozens of rounds into a target. The game's no longer about twitchy aim and crazy dodging, it's now about finding a good opportunity. The new weapons also have just the right balance between realism so they feel solid and fantasticity so they're still interesting.

BW pineapples will always have a special place in my heart. They're like realistic frag grenades, but blown up huge and painted with tropical fruit colours. It's psychedelic and cool. I love the background info. :laugh:

Bloody hell looks awesome as long as you don't combine decals with big ONS maps... That's UT's fault entirely, though.

those pineapples are really cool.. and because of the timing and distance variations, u can do lots of stuff with them.. even the rolling has its place.. i like the info 2
