i found it on gametrailers Link and whats creepy is that the music fits perfectly, and the game practically looks like that ingame. |

If Oblivion can run good on someone's computer, I would guess that GOW wouldn't take much better of a computer. After all, there is so much being displayed at once in Oblivion, it's not the detail of every individual thing that fries comps, but the amount of little detail in the massive amounts of things being displayed. GOW, however, is, from what I've heard, more like a conventional FPS, where you simply go through, not a gigantic world where you can freely roam. So, a little bit of a better video card, and it should be easy to run. |

You do forget one thing; it's UE3.0, they aren't sparing the multi-million polygonal lightmaps and realtime shadow calculations with all that fancy stuff. Without a card that can render those comfortably, you are screwed on any graphics settings unless they make support for older DX APIs. |

and its streaming the entire time, so you get no load screens. |

I'd prefer loading screens over less performance. |

My thoughts exactly, besides the loading screens are not too bad. |

You are going to give your older processor, when you're done with it, right?

its still awesome to go through the entire game without seeing load screens, even when transition between ingame cinematic and ingame, there are none, truly awesome. |

And truly not worth the performance loss. If you are too lazy to wait a few moments for a loading sequence every now and then, you are almost too lazy to breath. |

a well, to bad for you, since UT2k7 pretty much has that, since when you go on a server the server will already be streaming the next map (i think) so either A) once the map is finished it auto switches to the next or it just goes to a very short lasting loading screen.
also, who cares Bjossi, you don't have it, its works, and guess what when it comes out for the PC, you still have to be pissed off since it WILL still be streaming in the SP part! |

That is not a problem if you have good amount of memory, both vRAM and system RAM. The thing about Oblivion is the size of one level, which erm, is the whole game. Maybe that game wouldn't be putting X1950 XTXs to the limits if the programmers were clever enough to split the game world into multiple sections. |

I for one, personally believe it depends on the type of game for the wether or not thare should be a loading screen. I've never really got into Oblivion much since it held very little interest in me, but Morrowind is the same type of game, (maybe becuase Oblivions the sequal and I think no loading screens was best for it.
It lagged very little due to it, and it helped give you a sense of being in something that wasn't just a corridor here, an alley there, but of a living, breathing world. Goames like UT200X, on the other hand, are not supposed to be like this, and it isn't necessary for them. I really think the type of game should be the determining factor for loading screens. And, like Bjossi said, if you got a computer thats good enough to run it, its not really a problem. |

But still, is it neccesary to make the whole game one level? Because to my knowledge, it seems pretty useless pre-rendering a part of a game that you won't reach until you have ran for 30 minutes in one direction. I'm saying that probably at least 80% of the level is a part you can't see from where you are standing each time, so why make the computer use up resources to render all that? |

Well, I don't think Oblivion works quite like that. The world is broken up into cells, and there is a small load time when you enter a new cell, and not all cells are rendered at once. I think. I'm not entirely sure how it all works, but the world is broken up into cells, and the inside of buildings have thier own cells, too, so there is a loading screen from going inside to outside and vise versa. |

Hey, I wish I could give you guys an answer for my fps in UT2004 on new comp...but I can't. For some reason, the numbers are changing so fast I can't get a reading. The average usually says 1, 2 or 3 fps lol, which I know isn't right from how smoothly the game is running. Dunno why it would give me that. |
