Ok well out of my parents cheapness and "concern" for no warranty they got me the Ati radeon x1600 pro instead. I wasn't happy about this but I cant do anything now so if im stuck with a low end graphics card it sucks to be me !sad

Well, it doesn't exactly take much to run UT2004 max specs... plus, compared to what he was planning on getting, I think its probably pretty low-end.

If you think X1600 is low end, you don't deserve a computer.

Plus, you can't choose worse game than UT2004 to measure framerate improvement, because over 70% of the performance is given by the processor, only 10 - 15% by the video card.

To give you an idea; when going from a Geforce 2 to Geforce FX 5700, I only saw a framerate improvement of 10 at most. Going from an 1.2 Ghz Athlon to 2.8 Ghz P4 gave me a boost of at least 60.

I sorta said it as a qustion or tried to make it sound like one. From what Ive read the card inst good for graphic intensive games like Doom 3 or FEAR.

Doom 3 runs with average 45 FPS on my old Geforce FX 5700 LE (lighted edition) using High Quality 800 x 600 with 4xAF; so whatever they said was pulled out of their ass.

You have a great card, not awesome, but great none the less.

Oh, come on, an x1600 is still a very fine card. Heck, I run practically anything that's been released on high-end setting with my x800.

I'm sure you'll live.

woo! It worked and doom 3 runs on high settings very nicely besides the rare hiccup. Ut runs nicer than it did with nothing less than 40fps and nothing greater than 89 on highest settings.

In the case of UT2004 it ain't the video cards fault. The hickups in Doom 3 could be caused by limited amount of memory or slow vRAM refill rate. The former is more often the reason though.

People shouldn't buy new graphic cards these times. Only in problematic situations.

Because one big reason:
Wait for buying one when UT2007 comes out!! xD
