I have been trying to phrase this as well as I can for the past day and a half but it never came out right so hear it is, blunt and to the point. Why is it when ever you look at say an M.M.O. most if not all female armor is more there to keep it G rated then to provided any real protection, while there male counter parts wear armor that could conceivably slow down a rail slug, and yet each is equal in the amount of damage they can absorb. This is just about to drive me nuts, if you have no clue of what I’m talking about tack a good look at SK (sole keeper). The female barbarian has one of the most unbelievable get ups of all time, I’m positive that, that keeps her worm in the frozen north marching through 3 feet of snow, and provides outstanding protection when faced with any thing she will ever fight. Now when I first encountered this I thought “well that is to distract you so she can kill you wile you are staring at her vary shapely form.†|

I have something to add. As a player of one of the few games that don't follow that philosophy (Morrowind), I noticed that if you dl any custom armor/clothing the female armor rarely if ever looks protective. |

I have been wondering the same whenever I see females that wear metal thongs or something. But I guess this is just meant for the style, women are usually less capable of wearing heavy armor than men so giving them heavy armor could cause problems. (in real life at least) |

I really can't imagine a chainmail thong being very comfortable...

Well, most gamers are (straight) guys, and guys generally like their women sexy and scantily clad. Simple as that! Big fat armor is NOT sexy, just look at those female Juggernauts from UT2K4; even with less ugly heads they'd still look like crap. The lightly armored female commandos from UT99, otoh...
Realism... well, there isn't much realism in most games, period. Just look at 2K4 with its ridiculously oversized weapons etc. But with (transparent, invisible) energy shields you can have your cake and eat it too; you could have a totally nude model with just a small shield emitter attached somewhere and it would still be sort of realistic in a futuristic / fantasy setting. And, speaking of nude models, there really should be some anatomically correct male ones with karma-enabled gonads and stuff, that would be fun (especially with the crotch shot mut)! |

Maybe I'll sponsor a nude male or two for 2K7, after I've taken care of some other stuff (and still have some cash left)...

well heres the way i think about it...yes guys like to see scantily clad women, and lots of armor on guys makes guys look tougher...to justify it i say that women suit a more agile role where men are usually the dumb grunts who take the beating |

I think guys can look tough without needing an armor that can stop a .50 cal. bullet. Look at Gordon Freeman, his armor seems pretty thin. |

Gordons armor is actualy pretty thivk if you look at certain parts line the breast plate and back. but then some parts are thn because its not made for combat its a hazard suit. |

It is funny how the armor makes him able to survive getting an explosion into his face. But regarding the women, maybe they are just lucky that the bullets always hit the metallic bikini. I don't mind their armor degrading...

or maybe its kuz they have a smaller body frame(and therefore less surface area for bullets to hit)...well except for the fat ones but whos seen a fat woman scantily clad in a video game...then again who wants to then again most women would be toast if they stood sideways to incoming fire with all that extra size in the front and back if u get my meaning |

In Oblivion, I think women look umm..... (pretty?) when they wear armor. They did really well on some of those armors, but the Imperial Dragon armor makes the women look to manly!

Yep... that's one of the eternal rules of the RPG kingdom: When a guy wears a certain piece of armor, it's big, bulky and almost always covers his entire body. But when the SAME armor is worn by a female, it becomes form-fitting and exposes the "flattering" parts of her body... |

In Oblivion, I think Iron and Arena Raiments are pretty much the most transformed between male and female in the game. The difference for other armors like Daedric and Mithril only add the woman shape to it. Blame the modders for bikini armor and protective thongs! It's not the developer's fault!
