During the summer I hope to save up enough money to buy that stock not the SKS but the stock, that way i can just take the one i have now and just drop the gun into that stock and be good to go.[br]

That looks lame.

The primary reason he wants it is because its plastic and more durable and wouldn't put his wooden stock at risk for damage if he wants to go out hunting with it. Not a bad idea, really.

No, and thats a crap-a** gun, looks like a airscoft gun.

The gun is not bad, and you might want to take that back or something, GS has been known to bite at people who say stuff like that... ;)

Its just the stock that makes it look bad, the wooden stock looks nice on it.

Here's a pic of a Chinese one: (I believe Gnome Smasher's is a Yugoslavian one, which looks a bit nicer in my opinion)

UP is not going to take his opinion back because he can't.

I was being a bit sarcastic and stuff, you know. ;)

But back on topic, would you want to risk damaging the wood one that looks as good as it does if you had an alternative?

I sure wouldn't. 8)

I wouldn't care what weapon I damage as long as I have a backup of it handy. 8)

This isn't something you should throw away. This is a war relic, its not something in production today, plus, if you restored it to top condition you could fetch a nice check.

If you had two $1000+ checks, would you just throw one away because you got a second one?

Didn't think so. ;)

He is the one with the gun collection, y'know. ;) :P

~:( First off does anyone even know thw history of this fine fine weapon, that paved the way for the ak-47.

There are many different stocks out there for this particular gun. They range from flat black to digital desert camo. many different stock styles too. Folding stocks, teloscopic stocks, standard stocks. :?

That rifle is one of the finest militay tools ever created,I'm not just saying that because i own one. The only reason they are still not in use is the wieght, rate of fire and that it can only fire semi auto onlyU.S. navy seals still use them, Many countries still equip them, lots of sports men use them too, and so do I. !mistrust

The reason I own it is because of it history, ease of use, accuracy, and stopping power, the durability, and the very light recoil, the bayonet is a plus. ;)

The weapon has been made in countries such as Russia (the country that developed it), Yugoslavia, Romania, also the one that starts with an A %-6 not America but the other one, Still in production in china.

If your a gun enthusiast in America or any country that lets you own a weapon. I suggest you get your hands on an sks, they can be bbought for a fairly cheap price on the surplus market because of there numbers they range from about 80 to 150 U.S. dollars, I purchased mine for about 110 American dollars.

ANd you can get an attachment that allows you to shoot golf balls ove 500yds.

Beaultiful weapons no matter what type of sks it is. wether its the early features or the late features its a fine weapon.

Who was talking about throwing away? I said that I'd not care if I'd use that gun until it gets damaged, as long as I have another one to use. That gun won't be a war relic when molecular reconstruction gets invented, then you can copy and paste three dimensional objects like files in Windows. !mistrust

....im just questioning how one would damage their rifle stock while hunting...its not like your going to beat your prey to death with it, nor are you dodging bullets or doing any active tactical rolls or stuff like that...if you are you are really overdoing it and probably scaring everything away

You can't dodge bullets in realtime, not the supersonic ones at least.

But I can imagine the kickback being able to damage a stock over time, like a few hundred or even 1000+ shots.

Post subject:  I need some money

...yeah but that kick is gonna damage the rest of the weapon over time as well...but yes you cant dodge bullets, although you could dive after the first shot(s) and effectively that would be dodging the following volleys

Post subject:  I need some money

You need to be pretty far away to dodge a bullet, because bullets go hundreds of meters per second.

There are many ways to damage it...

you could damage it by leaning it against something
you could accidently scrape it against a tree when carrying it
you could drop it
you could get blood on it when field dressing the deer (or whatever you shot)
you could scuff it by setting it on the ground
you could damage it by resting it on something that isn't padded/soft when firing

I can go on if you like, but I think you get the point. ;)

From what you said earlier, it certainly sounded very similar to throwing it away, at least to me...

Exactly

I had this Civilian rifle, a 7mm short mag, and first times i went hunting with it i bumped it against my stand and scraped the stock so i sold it and bought a mauser k98 witch i dont hunt with, just my sks thats what i use, but i have to be very careful untill i get a synthetic stock.

Yep... thats the downside to wooden stocks, although they look a lot nicer (well, to most people that is !mistrust ), they aren't as durable and solid as synth stocks...

How do blood stains damage a gun? :?

Author:  Captain Xavious [ Thu Dec 28, 2006 3:30 pm ]
Post subject:  I need some money

They damage the stock, by, well, staining it. Plus if you get blood in places that are hard to clean and/or you didn't know about the blood being on/in the gun, it can very easily damage the gun (by rusting it or causing parts to stick/cause extra friction).

Author:  Bjossi [ Thu Dec 28, 2006 3:44 pm ]
Post subject:  I need some money

I wouldn't mind blood stains as long as they don't affect the gun's effectiveness. The handle and the outside of the barrel would be locations where the stains don't really change how effective the gun is, although your accuracy could degrade if the blood is "slippery". :P
