Out of curiosity, what was the spam thread about? Just advertising? You may more than likely have banned a spambot, those are fekking irritating. |

You may more than likely have banned a spambot, those are fekking irritating. rubbish, swearing, profanity, etc. Doubt it was a spambot...spambots will have difficulty registering on this site

Spambots can bypass all sorts of spam-defenses these days. Why would someone register on a forum as small as this one to just babble some random offensive words? I could understand if it was a big forum where dozens of thousands of readers view it, but this one...? |

Because this very big world is made up of all sorts of people including idiots... Any more such blantant violations will unfortunately see all new registrations having to be activated manualy by an admin.... |

Glad to see that the hammer is coming down. Hate to say it, but this forum has had some large spam issues with people like Darkonxy and decayed_living posting threads on zombie survival. |

Yes, it was just obscene crap completely uncalled for. Spam bots seem to be no problem here, just some idiots. And UP, the problem with Admin screening is not with new people getting an account, they just have to wait a bit longer. Its the process of the admin keeping up with the screening constantly that complicates things. But screening is only as a last resort, I believe. |

Moral of the story, users like Darkonxy and DL (or whatever he calls himself these days) need to know not to post random stupid crap, that this is a mod for UT2k4, and that if you have something real stupid you want to make a thread about, think it over for a day and or not even post it. |

This is the LAST TIME I'm explaining this: - When a thread is started within a forum, it will have to be on-topic for the forum is is started in. - That thread will then stay on topic, I.E. relevant to the subject of the first post of that thread. - If a thread is started in the "General" forum, then it can be started about almost any subject, BUT it must stay on topic for that thread I.E. relevant to the subject of the first post of that thread. REMEMBER:: there are a lot of minors on these forums. Pornograhic, other disgusting subjects, illegal content and spam will NOT be tolerated on these forums. I would also like to point out that there is a "Report" button available for each post. Use it if you feel the post is not suitable for these forums! |
