But should the mod scene launch in earnest on console, would it really have any ramifications for the same on PC? We can only speculate, but one thing that could well tip the balance is cold, hard cash. While mods for PC games have traditionally been free downloads, potentially third-party coders could suddenly be presented with the opportunity of selling their wares on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. We can't believe the lure would prove anything but irresistible. From article on BeyondUnreal What do you think anyone? |

It is illegal to sell mods without the permission of the trademark owner. |

Selling mods is probably legal if you try exploiting some holes of the law system, such as you aren't allowed to distribute modded official files at all, but what about your own ones? That still means you are limited to a particular game engine, trademarked by the company who programmed it. |

Try going to the BeyondUnreal website. Here's the link in case you have never been there before http://www.beyondunreal.com/ BJ While mods for PC games have traditionally been free downloads, potentially third-party coders could suddenly be presented with the opportunity of selling their wares on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. well it is in Epic's statement(right in the ut manual if you want to read it yourself) that mods can be made by users and such but they cannot be sold or traded for profit... so unless Epic changes its stance then there wont be any legal third party modders making hordes of coin additionally...people who buy ut on console are dumb |

"well it is in Epic's statement(right in the ut manual if you want to read it yourself) "Yes yes yes , but go read the article, things are changing, RS could maybe make a lot of change for a change with their quality work. Do Epic's plans spell doom for PC? This idea is being planned by Epic |

The problem with trying to make profits will just backstab the modder(s). I for example couldn't buy a copy of BW because I don't have anything that gives me the ability to buy online yet. But damn, you guys deserve lots of cash for BW & JW.

Dunno, but console modding would almost certainly be (a lot) more limited than PC modding due to (much) greater corporate control and paranoia re copyright and 'controversial' content. |

Not to mention that PCs have the ability to run on an OS. |
