Got a new pc

Intel® Pentium® 4 with HT Technology 3.0GHz
1gb RAM
ATI Radeon x1600 pro
And much much more...plus it has windows vista but i dunno how thats gonna work out with my graphics card if there is compatibility problems

Ugh, I'm getting tired of people panicing because Vista needs some vRAM.

I have to admit that your choice of processor is odd. Did you choose it because your mobo didn't support anything else?

Awesome!! I hear vista has a whole lot of stability issues so make sure you back your stuff up often. Did you build this yourself or did you buy it premade?

I thought the new pc was good...its a vast improvement on my other one with an AMD sempron with 1.8 GHz and now I finally have a gb of RAM for the first time in my life. Also whats wrong with my processor?

It was... like 3 years ago. !lol It's only slightly better than my cheapo 2004 rig, except for the RAM (which owns you @ 1.5 gb).

Well it ain't dual core, and you'll definitely need another PC for UT3. But at least you should be getting somewhat decent performace with BW now...

Celeron processors are not meant for gaming at all lol (if im thinking of the correct processor)

My mom urged my dad to get a celeron and I'm like "If you get ill i wont use it". But yea my Pentium apperantly has hyper threading which simulates dual core and in dxdiag it shows up as having 2 CPU's

Choosing a Pentium 4 instead of Core 2 Duo or A64 X2 is a huge mistake unless it costed $75 or less.

Hell, even at $75, it's still probably a poor choice in light of much more powerful A64s at >$50 (Last time I checked, anyway- They're insanely cheap, and slap around their P4 counterparts like little girls)

I haven't checked the prices in a while, if there is an A64 X2 available for $75 or less, then the Pentium 4 should cost $30 at most.

I didn't have the money my parents had to take out a loan for this one because my dads work is screwing him over with checks and stuff, but this pc's good enough for me plays my games nicely.

He will need to upgrade again for UT3 though, maybe the X1600 will do the trick, but definitely not the memory and processor.

Thanks. It fixed my fps problems in Empire earth 2 and postal 2 I didn't try my battlefield 2 or 2145 yet.

To bring things back on topic, what is your average framerate in UT2004 after the upgrade? Knowing the settings you use would be good.

PCs pwn macs in gaming though...if they didn't, I'd have a mac. And don't give me this "you can get an emulator to play your windows games" crap...if you get a mac to emulate windows, there's something TERRIBLY wrong with you.
