Isn't it hard enough to find these games for Windows nowdays? Man it is going to be tough finding Mac supported versions...
Those games are classics, I hope you'll find & buy them sooner than never.

are the hexen and heritic games abandon ware yet? or are they free to pass from person to person online? well any ways..... like 2 years ago i downloaded doom/2 off this mac site, i think it was legal(im not sure but i dont really care). so i downloaded doom legacy of course so the game would be more fun to play as well as the mods. then i found jdoom( http://www.doomsdayhq.com ) and was amazed. so any ways i would like to play those 2 games using jdoom but have no idea where to get them these days. |

Hexen, Heretic and Doom are still alive and kicking, any illegal activities here and I'll be forced to ban that person on the spot. If you want these games James, just buy them online on eBay or Amazon or anywhere you can find them. Hexen 2 by the way, is a great game. |

o well maybe thats why that mac site got shut down..... o well i guess. so giving just the .wad(s) out is illegal? (may be a stupid question lol, and yea i know the .wad is the main file that contains all the code ect.) |

yeah, its probably better that i dont find them tho lol. im tryin to focus more on my social life these days.... thats why i havnt completed many models lately. i'll pick up a copy sooner or later, btw isnt hexen 2 in full3d...? well i played something called GLhexen (it was Hexen 1 or 2 in 3d i cant remember) |

No game is full 3D, but the Quake engine which powers Hexen 2 emulates it nicely. |

There was a Doom Legacy Edition (I think thats the name) that was released prior to the release of Doom 3. While the luancher for it was bare minimums in quality and probably Windows only, you can get the .wads from there. It was only $10. You might be able to find a copy floating around in bargain bins or if nothing else on ebay. |

I found the Doom collection on the main PC shelves not long ago in a nearby computer store. If you are lucky you'll find it the same way as I did. |

Might i recommend Zdoom? its a source port much like Jdoom, but retains a more classic look and feel, whilst still giving you the modern setup and control options we have grown accustomed to, its my favorite source port hands down, and definately the most stable and polished of them. And it works for all doom engine games, even Strife! Doom Legacy is also a good source port, if a tad buggy at points, but its probably the best OGL supported port out there, and is needed to run the WolfenDoom wads, and thouse are a must have!

that would be great bjossi, just as long as there are the .wad files im sure i dont have to worry about if its a pc version or not. i edited what i thought might cause trouble so its all good i guess. |

I don't know what engine Heretic or Hexen use, but only the Doom engine uses WAD files. The Quake engine uses PAKs, which Hexen 2 is powered by. So you just need the packages because the Macs can't run executables I assume? You could just buy the games and then move the package files over. |

yea hexen uses a .wad file and hexen 2 uses .pk3's. if im using doomsday does it matter which platform version of the game im using....? but i guess i should try and find the mac versions to save some trouble |

Hexen 2 uses paks, not pk3s. There are plenty of source ports available for Doom and Quake, but I doubt those will work with other games even if they are powered by the same engine. You should keep an eye on the Doom 3 mod Hexen 2: Edge of Chaos. |

The WADS make no difference whatsoever for what OS it works on, only compatibilties due to OS is the launcher. Er, at least, I'm so close to certain of that that you might as well consider me certain. |

most of the TC's dont work on mac, and since im on an intel mac i cant even get some of the smaller mods to work. |

Hexen, and Heretic use the Doom engine, and work awesome on the Doomsday engine
I'm lucky enought to own Doom1, Doom2, Hexen, Hexen Expansion, Hexen2, Heretic and its mission packs, and of course Quake 1 i'm missing the Hexen 2 Miision packs, and the Quake Mission packs.. must get them..
anyway, perhaps you'll be lucky enough to find what you're looking for in a store, otherwise i found all i wanted on Amazon

Hey SB...don't you own Quake2 as well??? I have Quake2 and all its mission packs (yes, all legal), and I'm sure you had them as well??? I love the id series, and I really should start collecting them again... Best bet I think to find the old ones would be ebay etc. You might be lucky and even find an on-line retailer who can try and get hold of a package for you... |
