Today i was supposed to get high speed internet, so i took it to the guy to get the modem put into my computer and now when i turn it on it sounds an alarm built into the motherboard, I believe he moved the sound card in order to put the modem in and i think thats whats causing it.

and the deal with the highspeed, turns out we got a bad card so we have to take it back and wait till monday to exchange it.

If anyone has any ideas about my problem, please somebody help me.

Oooh... alarm from motherboard...? Not a good sign...

Happened to me once or twice, had to get a new mother board...

Did he move the sound card to another PCI slot? A warning beep on a mobo is often overheating related, checked the temperatures.

Pretty much what Bjossi said is the truth on this matter.Huh... didn't know the modem was in my compy... I can swear I see my modem as a separate part, like my router. Modem to router and then to the PCs connected to router...

Only time I've ever had serious motherboard problems was when I accidentally connected the power supply to a video card wile the computer was running. . .And all I had to do was reset the factory settings on the thing. . .Guess I got lucky. But there was no alarm, so I've got no clue.

Depends on what the alarm is:
A short beep, repeated, or a long continous beep?

Could be a simple thing like the RAM modules are loose, graphics card loose, etc.

Remove the power, pull out all the cards, pull out the ram modules.

Put the ram modules back in.
Then put the graphics card back in, then switch on, just long enough to see if you get the boot POST screen, or if it still beeps.
If you get the boot screen, then switch off, put the next card back in and repeat.

MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE POWER EVERY TIME YOU PUT YOUR HANDS INSIDE THE CASE!

You should find which device is giving the trouble like this....

Otherwise you're going to have to take it back to the guy who worked on it...

My guess is just poor workmanship from that supposed computer technician... Sucks that he's the only one in town...

Twice (or was it thrice?) I took my computer in to have him fix it, and in as many times I done it I had to bring it back in because of his mistakes. And every time he had to fix his mistakes he charged me for it.

Fortunately I don't think SSmash had to pay for that guy's mistake.
