So, I was looking at the the BW static meshes in unreal ed and suddenly got inspiration to make a "bathroom map" kind of level, but cooler, with a feel of a trashed gun rack or abandoned battlefield. Question is, would this be legal and ok with runestorm. I noticed this line in the readme: "You may not decompile, modify, disassemble, or reuse any of the included files". If I can use the weapons meshes, then I'll get to work. If not, oh well. (-: |

That line pretty much answers your question. Though asking the developers can always bend the copyrights a bit if the answer is positive. |

I guess I'll just use static meshes from stock UT weapons and such, then. I figured that for my 3rd level, I'd try my hand at "natual junk", where you have stuff strewn about instead of a structured layout. However, I should probably put out my first 2 maps before I get too deep into that. Anyone know of a free server where I can do upload maps? |

Cool, thanks. Will, of course, add plenty of credits in the readme and map description. I always wanted to place a flag in the barrel of the G5 I never realize until now just how hard it is to enclose an area without wall or terrain and still amke it feel natural instead of forced. ETA for Alpha version.... oh, say, 4 days? Already got a rough start hacked out.
So, anyone know where I can upload my first 2 maps? |

Uh, you can try filefront, that's free and serves my uses for it, probably will work for you, too. If you want the final version to get some downloads though, I'd recommend uploading it elsewhere. |

Done and done. Thanks for the tip, Xavious. For now, I'm calling it CTF-DesertedBattlefield. I'm calling it an alhpa because it hasn't turned out quite as well as I hoped, but that's what tweaking/revising is for. My main goal for this map was to work on making stuff have a natural "feel" as stated earlier, and to try my hand at a desolate map. Thanks again, SB, for permission to use the sexy BW. I put in credit in the map desctiption, extra info, and the ReadMe. Feel free to send any constructive criticism my way. Link: http://files.filefront.com//;7412178;/ |
