Wireless optical on this end as well. But my mouse is starting to piss me off because it auto-doubleclicks randomly. |

I don't have any experience since I'm just now really getting into PC games, but I read that Logitech's MX series are great for games. As for pads, some one was telling me the other month that there are gaming mousepads w/ specially engineered surfaces and gel wrist rests. I think any of those would be the way to go.
I don't bother since I don't think I have support for the MX input engine and am not into the "hardcore" thing anyway; I use an old-ass trackman marble designed for web-browsing since I care more about CTS than maximising my frags/death ratio.

I just checked out Logitech's web sight, they have some laser mice made for gamers there that look quite nice, a little pricy tho, but they can supposedly change sensitivity in game, and have adjustable weight, at least on the high end one. |

only thing i use is a targus mini-mouse that cycles led colors...just because it looks neat in the dark and whatevers handy...couch cushion, jeans w/e...If you havent guessed im a laptop user. either way i never really saw the point in those super gaming mice, if you can bind your keys to suit your needs then usually it doesnt matter which mouse you use |

I agree, gaming mice are a bit out of my price range too for now. I don't know about the weights, but changing sensitivity settings on-the-fly sounds great. I'm considering getting out my spare pointer and hooking it up so I can have a fast one for web browsing and twitch aiming and a slow one for sniping... I think all decent optical mice can track on just about anything; the cheap Microsoft ones I used in class would track just fine on my clothes, backpack, notepad, etc. |

I just hate when it happens, sometimes when I'm clicking a file so I can browse a folder, I open the file instead. Annoying as hell. :S |

Mine has 3 buttons and it is enough for me, I think UglyPants would make good use of a 12-button mouse.
