I tried looking everywhere, but the problems don't explain my error, so I hope that some computer wiz can help me out.

At first when I was installing Empire Earth 2, it freezes in the middle of installation and the entire computer hangs. The mouse can't click anything, so I turned it off and tried again, only to realize that my computer will restart in the middle of starting in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode. Then, I did PC Recovery. I thought this was going to solve my problems, but AFTER the PC Recovery, things got worse. Every time I click My Computer, Internet Explorer, or any drive in My Computer, the computer freezes and I have to turn it off. All programs that have shortcuts outside My Computer can function.

But here's the part that confuses me. After PC Recovery the ONLY site I went on was GameShark. Then the next day I can't even go there because everything freezes. Would it be that there is a Trojan hogging up all the RAM? Thanks, and I'll have to use my sister's laptop to go on the internet for now...

If your ad/spyware tools and/or virus scanners have a cmd function, make them scan the hard drive before the OS boots up.

Get Spybot Search and Distroy It works wonders, also use FireFox and not Internet explorer causse FF doesn't allow ActiveX stuff to install like dumb IE does (that includes IE7).

Although IE isn't safe to use, I doubt anything can cause this kind of problem unless it is a nasty virus.

In addition to my above tip, see if things are very hot inside your case. If your mobo has thermal readers, use a program like Aida32 or Everest to check out what the temps are.

I reformatted the hard drive, so every file got wiped out, so I'll that means anything I was working on (maps, etc.) has been deleted. It sucks. I spent so much time on DM-Segregation and the Computer froze every time I tried to copy it.

Why didn't you use command-line? You can find tutorials & tricks on the internet and then do moving/copying/etc. with nothing but commands. And if that doesn't even work, then you can boot into command-line so the OS isn't running.

Because I'm not a smart computer guy. But there's nothing much that was important. I could just re-download my own map through the link I posted on the thread.

Sometimes a nice good clean is the easiest and safest way....

Judging from the syptoms, it could simply be a bit of file corruption....
Viruses and trojans don't normaly just lock up the machine, unless of course they are having a battle with the anti-virus software you have installed (you do don't you??), but the anti-virus would normaly alert you, and the machine would just be very slow...
A format and reload would of course sort out the corruption, just like a checkdisk would (well, most of the time). Another possibility is you have a faulty hardware component somewhere..if it keeps doing after the reload, then it's time to start swopping parts to try and isolate...start with the ram and hard drive :(

Lastly, it could just have been good old windows getting its nickers in a knot! :)

Let us know how it goes...

Don't worry, it worked on May 20. The problem is that I'll have to rebuild the part I was working on in my map. However, I don't have the time to re-install UT2004 right now. So much happening at the end of the school year ;).

In addition to that, the reformatting process also helped me find a game I thought I lost forever. I was rummaging through my case of software (printer, graphics card, etc.) Then I found a disc for "Carrera Grand Prix." Just that name borught me memories, so I installed it and I'm playing it like I was still a little kid (It's RC car racing, and you can build custom tracks). But this time I actually know what I'm doing :P.

So let's just say the reformatting has ups and downs.
