Neglecting the PC is a bad idea for any developer. PC gamers have been greatly neglected in recent years, and I'm ready to go as far as saying PC gaming is slowly dying out. |

Geez that's an uncomfortable thought, Bjossi, but you may be right. Though one thing is certain, internet piracy will always be around, and with it comes emulators for console games. So in that reasoning, PC gaming will never fully die. Just the question is, will it be legal? |

Another thing to consider is how marketers made a prediction of console success not so long ago. It showed that console popularity would increase significantly from the release of the Wii, 360 and PS3. And that gaming is segregating from the PC Developers pay close attention to the marketplace. |

The mainstream have always been like that. We often make decisions (if there are no other ramifications) based on the easiest possible solution and as far as gaming goes...Consoles are easiest solution: all you need to know is that is plays games Regardless of the PC's advantages, the mainsteam does not want to be bothered with the added complications (and expenses) of hardware, operating systems, compatability, drivers, installations, maintenance, networking and so on than concerns PC gaming when a console well...just works. Look at it from the consumers point of view. |

yeah, except those darn emulators are so hard to find. Seriously, long ago i tried getting an xbox emulator, didn't work out. Yeah, console gaming is easier, since you just pop in a new disc and boom, your playing Quake Wars, Resistance Fall of Man, and other games, while we PC guys have to wait for a while to let the destruction commence . Console gaming is good for 3rd person gaming, and thats about it, in that 3rd person, includes games like plat formers and adventure games and hybrid fps's like Gears of War or Prince of Persia. RTS and FPS is what PC Gaming is all about, let those console gamers have there games, while we enjoy Crysis and UT3 before them. All, could we possibly continue this conversation in a new thread instead of this thread which is about new UT3 info. |

It is kind of funny, but UT3 is looking less and less mindblowing as new and more advanced games get released. If Epic won't release it soon enough it is gonna be outdated by the time it is out.

TOPIC SPLIT || New thread started here for "plight of PC gaming" topic .........................\/ New UT3 info topic continued here UT3 is still looking pretty good. Once the demo comes out and we see all it has to offer, it will blow our minds again. It may be a good thing it doesnt have mind blowing graphics by the time of release. Maybe by then, most computers can run it. |

Hell, mine can probably run it smoothly on high settings. Epic ran it on Geforce 6800 in SLi without much trouble. I remember when people were over rating the requirements to hell, it was amusing. |

such as "dual 8800GTX's should get about 30fps...tops." Surely one of those would be enough for more than 60fps. Im saying that within a year most computers will have such a device. |
