This article claims that the moon was blown up by N. Korea. It's been up for sometime. Anyone know if it's BS? I'm gonna kill the guy who did this if it was a hoax, I'm gonna blow up his head and place C4s all over his goddamn house! *pant* *pant* Weeeelll, I couldn't physically do that, so whatever.

Anyways, anyone seen this article before? Is it BS?

It better be BS. Also, how the heck could N. Korea develop a missile that could hit the moon? Also, how did they track where it came from? It takes 3 days to get to the moon.

Obviously fake. Else I'd have some time to believe that a scientist woud be caring for a 1/4 inch change in orbit. THe moon already change orbit slightly (like maybe a few feet) every year or so. But that would be dumb to call it a crisis of a 1/4 inch!

Just someone at yahoo having some fun, though N.K. did recently test a couple of short-range missiles.

This is obiously a fake. There is no Author stated. They did test fire some missled though - http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/0 ... index.html

I don't know how many of you paid attention in science class, but if the moon was no longer there, we would no longer have tides along with other earthly things.

That would take one hell of an explosion to blow up the moon.

Can you say "Gullible"?

And to think with common sense; how the bloody hell could they blow up a ball of rock that is bigger than all countries on earth put together?

Pure BS, i mean a nuke would make a big crater not blow up the whole freaking moon, whoever posted that, needs a slap in the face

Plus, wouldn't most people, uh, just look into the sky and you know, see the moon still there? :?

BS... I'll see the moon tonight, plus if it was any bit true, the whole fu*king world would blow NK up in a second for killing the moon.

Indeed, they were enough shitheads already, imagine what rep they'd get after blowing up our precious moon.

I was just thinking... if they did hit the moon at all, wouldn't that technically mean they attacked American soil? Technically, America owns a lot of the moon, if not all because we have a flag there. Iunno, but that kinda does say that that is American property...

I also know this: whoopty-do, we got a flag there. So what?

Do we know for a fact that the American flag is there? When I saw a video of it in B&W, it was moving, which means the tape is either false or edited.

Or the dude was moving the pole when the flag was flapping.

I don't think you can generate wind motions without wind. ;)

You know... there's a small point in that. THat means there might be a slight current on the moon with some dust and such. That can happen, you know?

Wow, this has gone off-topic.

Considering the moon doesn't have atmosphere, nope, it just can't happen.

Twisting the flag pole. Namely, it being spun horizontally.

It is still passively on-topic. We are talking about what would happen without the moon, which relates to the huge hoax.

Oh and that guy who said "can you say "Gullible?" I'm not gullible, it's just everything suggested that the Moon was completely gone when I read the article. There was no moon, it was unusually dark, that sort of crap.

Some people have no common sense.

Also, on the flag waving:

It's not a factor of "wind blowing" or anything. The flag was simply swaying as a result of contact from the astronauts who set it up. Without atmosphere, the flag can wave around a lot longer than usual as there are no air molecules to provide friction and slow it down.

Post subject:  What the hell? North Korea hits the moon?

But not much longer, the moon's gravity is decently strong, will try to pull the flag towards the center.

I don't know if you saw the tape of the astronauts, but they weren't touching the flag when it waved exactly like if there was wind. NASA later even admitted they edited it to make the American flag "cooler" looking.

So the question is if NASA are hiding more facts.

There is such a thing as solar winds.

Now about this topic, no the editor was not implying the moon was totaly destroyed, he even said that the nuke failed to move the moon. Must mean it is still there.

He makes the story beleivable it by explaining why there is no evidence that an explosion took place regarding the presence of a crater, the explosion itself and the moons impact.

And of course Korea does have the money to built a powerful enough rocket to get that far even if it would bankrupt them.

Then he further proves his theory with a statement on the moons trajectory, its a well known fact that the moon is slowly moving away from earth, its trajectory is altered every year. Why he said it could head towards the earth is likely a typo.

But beleive it, hes a journalist and he must be serious... right?.....BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

In space there inst explosions as we know them on earth so even a nuclear explosion would shrink in space and the moon doesn't have an atmosphere so a modern nuclear weapon wouldn't produce an explosion powerful enough to alter its orbit. I learned about it on Stars wars tech on the history channel !lol

I don't think NASA would fake the entire thing. I'm pretty sure it's still real, but not as great looking as what was done for the video. I remember hearing that they used a wire to make the flag hold straight out.

The moon is our best friend, but can also be our worst enemy if a certain situation comes up.

Moon gravity is 1/6 that of Earth's gravity, which means it will swing around even longer than what we would expect.

It is also reasonable to expect that the flag itself is very light, as weight is incredibly important when it comes to space travel.

EDIT: Disregard that, this site explains a lot

Moon gravity is 1/8th of the earth's as far as I can remember...
