I was gaping at how smooth Oblivion was, and how it still looked awesome (Not 360 awesome, that kills my comp ), so I decided to make a screenshot thread and screenshot guide (sort of.)
Mods I recommend to make the best screenshots: Actors in Charge http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=6239 This is ideal for making staged screenshots. It gives you an item called Actor's Ball, and a spell called Director's Touch. Clicking Actor's Ball will allow your character to play an animation (attack, swim, read book), and Director's Touch can be used to make an NPC do an animation (including hidden ones). Actors in Madness (Requires Shivering Isles Expansion) http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10150 An expansion to Actors in Charge, it adds Touch of Madness and something like Ball of Madness. These two allow either your Player or any NPC to play out a Shivering Isles animation. Toaster Says Share http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... ail&id=543 This is a mod that allows you to recruit anybody in the game, as long as they have a high disposition towards you. You can tell them to follow, wait, meet you somewhere, give you their stats, and dismiss them. This is good for placing people where you want them to be. All Armor from Oblivion and SI playable http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10785 All armor from Oblivion and the Expansion are playable. There's also one that just enables the Oblivion ones, which should be used by those who don't have the expansion. Just search All Armor in TESSOURCE. Chargen Amulet http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... ail&id=444 The amulet can be found just outside of the beginning sewers, around the gate. Equipping this allows you to change your race, class, birthsign, or reset back to lvl 1. Mart's Monster Mod http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... il&id=1757 One of the best leveled list revamps out there. It adds a ton of new monsters, and works with Oscuro's, Francesco's, and so on. Can really help you if you want random encounter screenies. Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul http://jorgeoscuro.googlepages.com/ An overhaul that works with Mart's Monster Mod. Better for gameplay. Modular Oblivion Enhanced http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... il&id=2000 Good mod that adds a ton of features. Fatality Cam http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... ail&id=416 The death camera is set to 5 minutes instead of 3 seconds, allowing you to enjoy the ragdoll effects. There was another mod that removes the camera delay and swing so that it directly follows behind the player. However, that's optional. Of course, I highly recommend using your favorite custom race and items mods. Adds more variety to the screenshots. Here's some tips: These commands would further increase the control over your screenshot. player.createfullactorcopy - Creates a full copy of your player. Removing "player." will duplicate an NPC that you have selected in the console. tm - Turns menus off so they don't block your Screenshot. setpcfame 1000000 - modifies your fame. player.setav "insert skill/attribute name without the quotes" "insert skill/stat level without quotes" - Allows you to adjust any skill or stat to the desired number. remove "player." to set the stat/skill of the selected person in the console. tfc Free flying camera. Only works well when you are in third person. Activating this command in 1st person will only display your arms. setactorfullname "John Doe" clicking on a person in the console, typing this command in (the name is the words inside the quote" will change the person's name. tai Freezes the AI of the entire game or just one person, depending if you clicked on someone or not. Making a good Screenshot: Use all of the recommended mods for best results. 1. Find a good place to make your screenshot. 2. Figure out who you want to put into the screenshot. Find them, copy them using createfullactorcopy, and using Toaster says share, recruit them. Remember to up their disposition. You can also do player.createfullactorcopy to make clones of yourself. You could have a very diverse screenshot by using the Chargen amulet to create a different persona, and clone them once, so you might have a shriveled up red nord, a white Dark elf with neon green hair, and so on, in the same screenshot. 3. You can also find items to dress them up in. I outfitted legion soldiers with assorted weapons and stuff like that. 4. You can use the Actors mods to put them in a comprising position, and freeze each of them with tai. The other way is to tell them to follow you, or maybe tell them to attack or meet up with you somewhere else using Toaster says share. The latter option will put a more natural feel. 5. All you need to do after that is take the screenshot! I hope it didn't bore you to death. I'll be posting screenies up to show you what I mean. |

Here are some screenies I shot with these tactics.[br][br] I used Actors in Charge here, forgot to turn off menus though . Yup, that shiriveled red guy is me!
[br][br] Awesome battle shot. I used Toaster Says Share, and the createfullactorcopy command to clone the guards. This was taken on another character. [br][br] Another battle shot, just had blood in it, so I put it on. [br][br] A screen I took when I ordered all my guard buddies to meet up in another town. The tall draconian dude's me. I used tfc in this one to get this perspective. [br][br] Later, I took another screenie using tfc to get that view. [br] [br] Another one, with weapons drawn. Remember, any of you guys that have Oblivion can post on this thread too. Expansion screenies are included. I'll try to take one KOTN and one SI. |

Good screenshots none the less. You should get the Knights of The Nine pack and Shivering Isles if you have the money. If you do get it, use all the mods I suggested, and you could look for more. |

Here's some more screenies. The first is just a regular landscape view. The second one is one of the best screenshots that shows the bloom effects in Oblivion. The bandit in the second shot is a steel argonian, from a mod. I wonder how awesome HDR would look like... too bad my graphic card doesn't support it.[br][br][br][br] |

Here's Some more: [br][br] How a regular conversation would look like in Oblivion. [br][br] An evil chapel. Looks like they murdered one of their own as a sacrifice. [br][br] A scene that the next few screens will take a look at from different POVs. This one is from the cowering woman's point of view. [br][br] A sort of side view that gives a better look of the swordsman and orc. [br][br] Displaying the front of the orc. [br][br] From the orc's POV. Ouch, that has to hurt. [br][br] A worm's eye view. [br][br] Swordman's POV. Wonder how he's feels about what he just did .
[br][br] An overview of the entire scene. For all of these I used the TAI function to freeze them in the position I want them to be in. I also waited for a good time to take the screenshots. It didn't look nice at night or sunset. With stock Oblivion, you won't be able to fling the body. There is a mod called Realistic Ragdolls and Force that allows you to lift bodies around by the thigh, and also makes ragdolls fall realistically. Use v3.0 ONLY. v10 and v11 is just v1.0 and v1.1. And for those who have Shivering Isles, you would have to find the files under C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data/Meshes. There will be a Characters and Creatures folder. Use a program that can change the file created/modified date. Find the following files and add them into the list: C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data/Meshes/Characters/_male/skeleton.nif C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data/Meshes/Characters/_male/skeletonbeast.nif Then go to C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data/Meshes/Creatures and add all the files in each folder into the list. Then convert it to today's date. That will allow you to have those ragdolls along with the Expansion. The reason why is because the default skeletons have a more recent date, so the game uses those. So you have to make the custom skeletons more recent than the default ones. Here's the Link: http://files.filefront.com/Realistic_Ra ... einfo.html Oh and BTW, if you wonder why the blood in your game doesn't look like the one in mine, I use this Gorier Blood Texture replacer: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... ail&id=836 There's also a gore mod I'm gonna try out. It can be found here. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... il&id=2876 |

It's not a goat. It's a Draconian Add-on I found on TESSource. If that's what you're talking about. Speaking of that, I beat Knights of The Nine last night. Got a few epic-looking screenshots. By the way, I just found a mod that gives you more control over your screenie. http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=3364 Allows you to change weather. You should read the readme to figure out what the ESPs do. |

Oh, Here's some Knights of The Nine Screenies. They were taken during the final quest and after. The Divine Crusader is the guy with that awesome helmet (me ).
[br][br] The reborn Knights of The Nine prepare to attack the Aurorans, as the Divine Crusader prepares to defeat Umaril. [br][br] The assault begins! [br][br] And they begin to enter the ruins... [br][br] After the battle, the eight surviving Knights return to the Priory with the Divine Crusader. (First Person shot, that's why you don't see me. [br][br] Afterwards, the Knights have a delectable meal of pewter plates!
Sorry that I didn't get any battle screens of Umaril and the Aurorans. Don't want to spoil it for anyone who doesn't have it. Some of the knights in the last two screens are off-screen. The second-last was the most memorable though. When the guy was talking a conjurer came out of nowhere and attacked the Knights. Well, it was 8 to 1, so 3 guesses who won! |

This is just High Quality. There's still one my computer can't handle... I think it was Ultra High. It should look like the 360 that way. |

I don't see much of a difference, but I can tweak the .ini so I get a really nice screenie, although it will lag like hell. I'm just gonna try tweaking reflections and shadows a bit, see what happens. But here are two screenies before the tweak, one Ultra High, and one High. The first one is Ultra High, the second is High.[br][br][br][br] |

I maxed out Specular Dist, enabled All Reflections (Reflects every single thing around the water), Enable Canopy Shadows, and maxed out the number of Internal and External Shadows. My comp was friggin' laggy when I took these screenies so I hope you enjoy them .

It's a darn good game, last time I checked the price hasn't dropped much since May 2006. Here's a list: Oblivion X360: 59.99 PS3: 59.99 PC: 49.99 Knights of The Nine Additional Content Pack (Includes KOTN, Wizard's Tower, Horse Armor, Vile Lair, Thieves Den, Mehrune's Razor, The Orrery, and Spell Tomes): $19.99 Shivering Isles Expansion Pack: $29.99 So if you buy all 3 for your PC, it would cost you about... $100. It's no small investment, but I think it's worth the money. There's also the Construction Set, a must for every modder. Don't forget to install the lates patches too.
If you want to check the TES series out, go to www.elderscrolls.com. |
