Man... this bites... Fortunately they seemed to have been a bit better prepared than some people for something like this.

Anyways, I'm terribly sad to hear this... I wish you guys luck on your recovery. :)

Bad news, pain in the ass news, but not devestating.

Worst case is that they have to do the patch from scratch, and some map stuff they were busy with (textures etc.). There is a test patch floating around which hopefuly they can recover from.

You know what sucks even more? All the data you guys "lost" is still on the hard drive, you just lack the gadgets to extract it.

As far as I know, the method of extracting data from dead hard drives has little to do with software, so I doubt it can possibly be free.

Guess your right.

I know of something, saw it on Call for Help, its called Spinwrite i think, and from what i remember it does exactly this, regains files from crashed harddrives and i think it only costs 29.99 Canadian (or US).

the drive in question was formatted after all the beef.. data was all corrupted.. drive wasn't unreadable :(

But anyway.. mahor losses were DC's c++ code, BW patch and accompanying feature tracker, about 100 map textures, and some sponsored stuff :( :( :(

But we'll recover, and get to more important things, quicker than ever :D

Well.... if it was Einstein before it was a zombie it might be able to do it if you give it flesh for doing it right... preferably that flesh over there (points to raw steak).

Initial thought was along this line...
Same end effect anyway....
Something went horribly wrong with that drive....but anyway they're on their way back to getting all up and running again....just to try and do some catch up now :)
