Just got back from a weekend at the excellent Colorado renaissance faire in Larkspur, Colorado. Awesome stuff. They've got a great recreated little village, loads of awesome little store booths, jousting, entertainment, and loads of pointy steel objects. Stopped by one of my favorites - Badger Blades (www.badgerblades.com) and picked me up a really nice heavy throwing knife. This thing will pierce car doors. Those guys make some amazingly tough steel without making it brittle. Also, I got myself a kilt with a nice green - black - red tartan on it. I'm wearing it as I type this. Heck yeah. |

I love Ren Faires! I went to one a couple weeks ago, got myself a rather chinsy Roman batte Axe (looks cool anyways ) and I got myself a black fox tail.
Damn, you got a kilt. I'm jealous.
Is it a traditional kilt or a French style though? |

And SS was very annoyed at that fact, plus how X keeps asking for it to be 'petted' over MSN... >_> My annoyance is that it's a black fox tail.... why not a brown one? Eh, I'll keep to throwing the fact in X's face of how I still got an electric guitar and can play it! Well.... for two songs. I'd love to go to one of these howeveryouspellit fairs. |

The traditional style is wrapped around your shoulder a couple times and then the rest is like the French style, which most people associate as the Scottish kilt. OCAdam wrote: My annoyance is that it's a black fox tail.... why not a brown one? Well, you see, my options there were any colour I wanted as long as it was black. Or I could've paid an arm and a leg (they had the tools to remove them) for a white, pale blue, pale pink, or a steel one. Uh... when'd you throw that in my face...?
Either way, that doesn't really make me jealous...

Yeah. . .It got pretty hot, especially since I was wearing the full-length traditional shirt, and the beret. Fortunately, my desk is six feet from a huge air conditioner fed by a high-voltage power supply and a high-pressure hose. |

I don't know, for some reason the renaissance faire and Medieval Times seem really similar. I saw some awesome lookin' claymores over there last time. |
