yeah well after a long break from waisting time on 3d models.... im back. every thing from before got deleted but i dont really care because the models quality and poly count were ridiculous(in a bad way). As for my Flash animation..... that failed. i gave up after 20 frames of animation(and it was still pretty much a test animation). i will only post the 2sec animation if i get enough "request" for it. Pencil, the program that i used is not intel mac friendly and lacks certain features that i could have used.

so... i jumped back into modeling this time with patience and and much thought, so far at least. I still have not successfully uv mapped or textured a model, the process is just..... ugh. I have created a Hand Gun model that is coming along nice so far, its not to blocky looking and its fairly realistic i suppose. I have a problem with the chamber though, i took an extra step to make it look better but of course i found that there was a bad after effect with a polygon or two.

I was surprised to find how great a low poly model can look, so far the Pistol is only 228 polys and the main structure is already built(now only for those little touches that makes things look nice). this is really low poly for me, i am use to 800-1300 polys !shy

well here it is......

Program used: Cheetah 3d
type: Semi Auto Pistol
Polys and vertices: 228 polys and 305 vertices
Time spent: probably no more than and hour or so yet
Completion?: probably around 85%, should fix a few polys in the chamber if i can.....

Looks pretty good. I'd say the trigger guard needs to be a bit more narrow and the handle isn't proportioned quite right (too short, kinda thick) and a bit of angling it backwards a bit might make it look a bit better.

Other than that, great so far! How is that Cheetah 3D? I never heard of it before. It a Mac only program?

thanks for the tips Xav, i get what you mean.

Just from looking at the program it looks amazing, you can Animate, model, and UV map all at the same time. i havnt experimented much with Cheetah3d yet, its a very complex program(i should check out some of the tutorial vids). i actually made the model in Wings3d but then imported it to Cheetah3d to mess around with animate/uv map(cheetah makes models look better and renders them better). Wings3d is a lot more easy to figure out and to use but its not as professional. Cheetah is Mac os x only im pretty sure(according to the web site), http://www.cheetah3d.com/ .

@uglypants: heh, maybe if i finish the actual model i'll send it over to some one who can make use of it(in ut2004 hopefully). sadly texturing isnt really my thin(+ no animation skill yet) and i would have to buy another copy of ut2004(and then learn how to mod, which would be awesome to learn i admit).

o and the renders are from wings3d(thats why it doesnt look as great), i have to figure out how to import the new textures and model in to cheetah3d.

Having some spare time around.....
i finished the pistol model and made an AK47. The AK is still being modeled, some things like the magazine and other proportions need to be worked on.
Didn't i already make an AK47 before...? Yes i did, but it looked like shit and got accidentally deleted a while ago. That was about last year or so.

So any ways.... here are some new screen shots. untextured and almost finished......
AK47- 587 polygons, 718 vertices, over 3 hours of work...
Pistol- 504 polygons, 644 vertices, over 3 hours of work...

Here is the finished pistol 8) , just not textured(what else is new?).

So do you want to see the old AK47 too? Yes, you've seen it before but take a look at some pics of it. Have a good laugh with me.

#5. http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l196/ ... AK1-3-.jpg

i don't know if its really that bad, but its not very correct and a lot of extra polys were thrown in to make it look "good".

Here is the Glock i made about a year ago, along with the ak47

Awesome job on the pistol and definatly on the AK.

If you finish the AK, are you going to see if you can get it into BW for the next patch (with dev help, aka, fine tuning, animations and making look even more cool!)?

Cause if you did that, you'd be a hero here for all us who want an AK in BW.

Is that pistol a Glock 9?

If so you may want to try narrowing it just a tad. Mainly around the handle

Man a glock would be so funny to have in BW.

If the Glock i anything like it is in CSS to real life, i wonder why they bothered to make... it... oh yeah, in real life 1 shot equal death pretty much. Silly me.

Still, a glock would really be neat to see, hell any new gun would be awesome to see added to BW. Been a while since any new ones.

The glock and the old AK are gone, they got deleted a while ago(not on purpose). So i cant really fix them up......

I'll try and finish up the AK this upcoming week and send it To Rune Storm and see if they can use it, maybe the pistol too.... depends on if they want either of the models or not. I'll try and just get the basic structures right, any detail can be deleted or added once i send it to them.

i would love an AK in BW, the M50 needs a rival !mistrust
maybe mine could be tweaked into the BW look? who knows.

Exactly, it really does need a rival, the Skrith Rifle and SRS aren't competetion for the M50 (well yeah they are), but an AK would be soo much cooler, and i'm pretty sure i'd make the most sense of an old 21st century that would still be used in the 23 century.

And it very eaily could be tweaked for a BW look, would look kickass for sure.

Also, this is all great to hear.

Heres something I started last Friday and pretty much finished today. After sitting around Friday with absolutely nothing to do i wanted to make a model. Hearing about Halo3 this, Halo3 that, i decided to make this model.... kind of like a tribute i guess.

well here it is!
around 4 or so hours of work, 678 polygons, 881 vertices. four hours(non consecutive).... is a long time to model something, believe me.

So... i never ended up finishing the ak47... i got kind of sick the week i planned on finishing it up. But now i've got back on it and its almost there.

Along with finishing the model i started playing around with the whole sniper rifle idea, so i sloppily smacked on a scope. But in doing so i found out how to make a transparent glassy scope that looks pretty cool. The scope and the stand(that really sucks) do not fit the model but i was just messing around with it any ways. The model is almost done(just subtract the scope) besides some tweaking and a few minor details.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l196/ ... rdrag3.jpg

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l196/ ... rdrag4.jpg
(yep, the scope is transparent, you can see better in the second scope shot)
The model will be finished soon, i then plan to work on a sniper rifle.
any comments?

O and here are three regular pics that probably seem familiar because not much has been changed..... but they are new.
