You know most of the poeple with broke 360s were stupid and didn't get the 20$ Intercooler.

Incorrect! Check the XBox forums all over and you will find that is not true...
Heating is only one of the possible causes of the failures, and in some cases coolers were causing other failures. The needing a cooler is what's known as "Urban Legend".

The failure rate of XBox360's is only around 30%, and anyway, M$ has extended the warranty to 3 years...so there's no problem...if it breaks you get a new one for free!! And it's really easy, phone M$ get a ref number, go to your local shop who sell's the boxes, give them the faulty unit and the number and they give you a new one! M$ even replaces some games caused by the faulty drives (for those who got those).

You missed one point to HAVE an Intercooler: Chances of overheating go down, and since of that, you save lots of money for paying the gas to drive to the nearest console repair shop!

Ummm...no my point was that heat is NOT the main cause of the failures, and only occurs in some instances...and actualy your chances of having a failures goes up, due to the fact the power supply cannot handle some of the coolers advertised!

My XBox360 is second hand, manufactured a year ago (and orginaly bought about 8 months ago), it's previous owner used to use it a LOT and my dear son uses it a LOT for long periods. So far no problems *touches wood*

and I registered with M$ for the extended warranty with no problem.

The guy I bough it from has got himself a PS3 and an XBox360 Elite on order (yes I agree he has too much money). He likes the PS3 and the XBox360! Depends what game you are playing, both have pros and cons...

Are you online with your PS3. I hear PS Network (I think thats right...) is quite good? I must admit, the XBox Live thing is not very good...

It's the other way around. XBL is the better, and PSN needs a lot of work. The reason is simple: XBL's been around for a lot longer, and PSN is basically prototype in a way. Ever see the matchmaking stuff for XBL? Little wonky at times, but it works for the most part. The few times I used XBL, I had some super good races with other people. How about racing a pro race driver on a game? Done it! Lost every time though... and I nearly won once on the hardest track. I screwed up about 1 minute to go... it was only a 1 lap race! Nurburgring is hard as hell.

yeah so me and my bro have been playing the nextgen consoles and decided to get a PS3 even with all of the x360 fanboys giving tons* of reasons not to buy one. yeah i know how bad the ps3 started out selling, the xbox blew it right out of the water. Even the WII was kicking the PS3's ass........ the PS3 just didnt have any thing special to offer besides a high price and newer technology, i guess the price and lack of games were its downfall. so after playing the X360 i thought it would be nice to have one, but i've never really been a xbox fan or a halo fan(well besides halo 1). so for a bit i've been hearing about all of the dud 360s..... all of the ones that just stopped working or scratched up disks for some reason. my friend henry has had one of the few 360's that wasnt defective out of a bunch of my friends who owned one. my other friend henry did get a really loud 360 so he turned it in and payed for a 360 elite, its pretty nice i admit. i have also heard stories of defected PS3's..... but it didnt seem to be as massive as the 360 death toll. the 360's not working didnt really have an effect in our decision in buying a PS3, my brother is a huge Metal Gear Solid fan and wants to own the new one coming out for PS3. damn that game looks amazing..... also i wanted Ninja Gaidan Sigma or what ever, the xbox version of that game was so amazing so the PS3 version should be even better. i started noticing all of the games lined up to come to the PS3, Kill Zone 2 isnt really one im looking forward to and i dont think it will be the "Halo killer". Kill Zone 1 was nothing special, true. but Kill Zone 2 is graphically amazing and the creators should have learned from their mistakes last time(so i can only hope for a decent game). The PS3 didnt have many games at the start but it is getting their thats a fact(just look up PS3 exclusive games, or some of the games coming to PS3). Unreal Tournament 3 mods on the PS3....... this is one of the parts where i wanted to cash in on the PS3's open ended internet. You can actually get on the web and download mods for ut3 and UT3 actually knows how to install them and optimize them for max performance or something like that. The xbox live community will receive some* user created content but in the end.... it wont be any where close to the PS3's mod community. Also i have seen some of the games where they let you use some of the features that are offered in xbox live.......... the online play shouldnt be terrible like a bunch of people have said about the PS3. i think its pointless ranting about which system is better but im tired of hearing my friends hollow statements about facts that they know nothing about. i've played all three systems and they are all fun, all i can say is im having a blast with mine so you have one with yours. i have no idea why i typed all that, but i know most of the people in this forum probably have a 360. and so far i've played "Resident Evil 4"(yes the PS2 version, great game), Ninja Giadan: Sigma(the demo), and "Resistance: Fall of Man" (for ps3, i admit that game sucks). o and pretty much every ps1 or ps2 game can be played on the PS3, they stated "but there may be some graphical glitches or something in the really old games"(probably meaning PS1). o and btw, we bought it for 500$ the 60GB hard drive no flame trips please.

If you don't know, Forza 2 is the hardest game on the 360 right now it seems. With all the constant saving and such.... but my 360 never goes bonkers at any point. Congrats i guess on a PS3, although I still don't see many games for it that might be good. Of course I'm the racer, which so far the 360 has a bunch of games catered towards! ^_^

I am still not a fan of them (and I have a 360 at home), but they do have their place for entertainment, and building a PC with the same or better capabilites just for games will cost you more (well here in sunny South Africa anyway). Whether you prefer the 360 or the PS3 is purely a matter of personal choice. They are both similar, both have good points and bad points! For me the PS3 is over priced, here in South Africa, the PS3 is just under double the price of a 360 (the full one not the core). To just play games and watch movies, thats a no brainer which one I will buy!!! Besides I like M$ despite all their bad publicity! They do have good after sales support, vs almost non-existant after sales support for Sony where I live! Just my 2 cents worth

Which for me.... is a drive to the nearest big city that is about 50 miles away.... and is in the center of downtown. O_o

i've never been too much of a console man myself.. it just seems so limiting only being able to play games, or watch movies.. kinda gets boring after a while.. i'd rather sink the cash into a PC upgrade, or even music CD's

yeah i get the whole intercooler thing and all of that. i would get a new comp if i could but that price is way to high for me to afford. also im 16 right now so my biggest concern is saving money to buy a car(and yeah im working a part-time job right now). my intel mac should play nextgen games no doubt, but the question is how well? i only had to put in around $200 for the PS3 and that was no big deal for me.

Only problem is here in South Africa, XBL hasn't yet arrived (it's due later this year), so we have no local servers, so lag sucks, as all the servers for any game multiplay are overseas...even "machine to machine" and not "server" based games suck because of the talking overseas first....but I hear that will change when MS opens up SA on XBL.

PS3 for online gaming, sure.
