Jack has obviously been neglected as a child. The games like BioShock and Mortal Kombat probably remind him of his immature nightmares when he was a kid. Then being so overly selfish, he decides to try and get rid of those games in order to erase his stupid memories.

Seriously, Jack Thompson should lay off BioShock. The commercial's aren't even violent! All I saw was a machine thing and the girl riding on it, then the guy trying to shoot him and stuff.

Way to go, Jack Thompson, you just won the Scarred for Life Award! (ding ding ding)

Yeah, I could possibly see him bashing BioShock's commercials if they had the guy shooting the Little Sisters as well as the Big Daddy's, but they didn't, so there is no need to bash on the game. Also, i find it more of a problem that the WWE's demographic i kids under 17, that just seems a bigger issue in my eyes than BioShock.

I'm amazed he's not bashing on G4TV for showing ads of Baileys and Smirnoff every second commercial break.

What if Bush sent him to the War, and then 'forgot' to give him armor, or a gun? That could work if we could get that to happen.

He needs to take a step back and realize that theres more important things going on in the world than worrying about kids playing violent videogames. Then he needs to pull that giant stick out of his bum and grow up. Unfortunately as long as there are scared suburban soccer moms that agree with him he will always be that way.

With soccer moms and Jack Thompson, Jack would be the supposed "savior" and the moms are his blind myrmidons who only see the bloodshed in games, and they don't even care about how much creativity, knowledge, or valuable lessons the game might hold. I just don't get this biased vision. Jack Thompson should be more open-minded and look at the game as a whole, not scrutinizing at one tiny detail that pisses him off.

As much as I hate Jacko, bashing him on the 'net and/or sending him death threats only proves his point that violent games breed violent gamers.

What we should do is prove him otherwise. Be productive, and show the moral lessons we learn from those games (hey, even the GTA series has some moral lessons... however twisted they may be).

That was what I was meant, but I think I didn't say it right XD.

I mean, look at Mortal Kombat. There are many morals and stuff, especially in Armageddon. Morrowind and Oblivion could also teach you some new vocab if you spend your time reading the books.

In my opinion, the brutality of video games helps you prepare for the harsh enviroment you are going to face when you grow up. Living in a overly-protective and peaceful childhood can give you a nasty shock after seeing your very first car crash, suicide, or whatever.

But Jack Thompson sees otherwise. I think that his cause was okay at first, but now he is scrutinizing, overlooking the fact that tiny toddlers might possibly watch WWE, with those guys on steroids beating each other into submission.

No, we are talking about human nature here. The video games have nothing to do with the case here, he is just a jackass trying to ruin a perfectly good industry, it is common sense that the fans of that industry hate him for that, to the point of wanting to use violence. This would be no different with the movie industry or even music.

That may be, but this is exactly the kinda of thing that gives him more power. All he has to do is point a bunch of ignorant parents to a thread like this, tell them the forum is for a video game, and he has more support just like that.

Like Kaboodles said, just ignore him. He wants to battle in the legal arena with huge video game corporations, he's going to get what he deserves.

Yeah, it really doesn't matter what the man reads himself. I mean he doesn't grow with power every time he sees his own name on the internet, though it might boost his ego. What matters is the general non-gaming populace who are ignorant of our hobbies.

He has the childish and ridiculous idea that video games are guaranteed to turn kids into killers. What he isn't including in the formula is the stability of the individual. Video games have different impact on different minds, unstable minds due to mental reasons or simply bad parenting are the most likely to get a little nuts. This is the case for 0.00001% of gamers, and that percentage shines of optimism...

Another thing he is doing, is suspecting the wrong people. It is not the publishers' or the developers' job to babysit mentally unstable people or kids, their job is to create entertainment for the vast majority of gamers that can easily separate reality from fiction.

If Jack has any common sense, he will eventually figure this out.

This is true, when i was 7 years old, i played UT everyday, with blood, cursing, and of course gore.

I am stable-minded, even under violent games.

So if jack thompson says that violent games cause abnormal behavior in kids. he's a F***ing moron.
