If anyone could help I'd be very grateful. I recently made my elderly father his own account on the PC, and for some reason, now on all accounts Javascript seems to fail, WMP11 won't open, search box is empty, no Javascript in IE7... After browsing the net a bit in firefox, I found out I should try re-registering the files jscript.dll and vbscript.dll. Jscript fails: Code: DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll failed.
Rerurn Code was: 0x80004005 So I look for what to do next, Apparently I need to msconfig -> Expand Files -> Etc, but where the hell is jscript.dll on the XP CD? Could I download Jscript.dll and replace it manually, or would that screw everything up? Thanks- Anyone? |

Strange... do you have the java client installed? if you do, uninstall it and re-install it... |

Ok, there is a Microsoft KB regarding some issues with jscript and vbscript relating to a security issue. You can download the proper jscript and vbscript files from Microsoft from here. Be warned that requires you to validate your windows (as do most downloads from MS nowdays), so you need a legal windows

Thanks for the link, I'll give it a try. EDIT: No Luck, 5.6 gave an error on reboot relating to jscript.dll, I tried 5.7 no errors, but no change. I can only see a full format, and re-install of XP on the horizon... Bollocks...
