i'm starting a new franchise. PROS/CONS Every Monday! This week- UT3 beta demo Pros: it's good looking (then again, so is everything else these days) Weapons are back on track. Vehicles are majorly updated Darkwalker is the king baby. New powerups are awesome and the sight effects are awesome. Cons: No character customization can't save your controls 3 maps is a little dissapointing when i log on it crashes no muts (but that's the demo for you) and sometimes the maps feel a little repetitive |

pros: like you said.... cons: It's costly (for us in SA). It's a machine hog... The series is getting boring now... |

None of those cons are a matter for me 
And you named lots of DEMO cons, and you should know that demos suck most time. I'd need a new PC, but that's my problem, not UT3's. And the series ain't going to get boring You shouldn't have played all those side games to UT classic.

I would prefure to see this thread on the actual full release of UT3 before I take anyones word As Bulska mentioned, we all know Demos do not give you the whole cake so its hard to pass judgement Im curious abouts Cyberaxes comment on the other hand; System hog? Is that not just because its a "next gen" game? Crysis and Oblivion does not exactly run on a pentium 3 either. How about the pros and cons of Halo 3? That I would like to know, did Bungie learn from the mistakes of Halo 2? |

Pay me too....some of us can't afford it ! As with all demos, there are normaly a lot issues with them, that's why they have demos and betas... I'm sure it will be much better when released. |

I agree. Beta talk is useless..But If the DEMO has to be bashed and debated go ahead....The servers run smooth as silk now that i have gotten all the bugs worked out, I hope you guys will enjoy working with the engine...BW (what version you gonna call it?) for UT3 will be sweet. Until then I'll See about keeping the VCTF Server up until I get a FULL release and Epic gets their head out of their asses. As far as Paying you..I have 600+ Dollars a year that come out of the Donation fund and my pocket for the servers and my community.

can't honestly say anything about it yet.. we'll hopefully be getting the beta off a mag CD.. til then all i can do is wait and see.. |

Epic did a good job at scaling the requirements, but they are still testing boundaries, increase the min. reqs higher and they'd be losing plenty of the playerbase. So indeed the game is a machine hog, but within reasonable area. |

My uncle has a great PC, with just the minimal requirements for Crysis! But for UT3 Demo, it crashes when going into an arena. It won't show anything either. Graphics have been put far down aswell... I want a new PC... |

Be advised: Some people report getting great frames with a GeForce 7900, but others say they are getting 3 FPS with everything low on an 8800 GTS The demo seems to be a bit unpredictable with more than just hardware affecting its performance. Xfire seems to hit it hard, as does video drivers that are not updated yet. Vista could be causing issues too. Epic Games forums has alot of threads on these, you should take a look Bulska because it may not be your computer causing the crashes. |

I uncapped my FPS with a few INI entries...smoking 90+ 8800GTS No problems....I use the Nvidia drivers not the card manufacturer (XFX). Newest NVIDIA 680i Chipset drivers and Newest Direct X. |

Eh, I tried it out. Its pretty, and the guns feel meatier than ut2k3 - 2k4, but the maps and game modes they picked for the demo were sort of boring. I think it would have been much more fun if they had a warfare mode map in the demo, but I get the sense from articles about the game that they are complex to make and that UT3 will only ship with a few of them. The AI seems to be more vicious. When I attempting to snipe on the VCTF map, the bots were killing me almost immediately even on adept and masterful mode - sometimes with tons of well placed shocklance combos or shock chains from the hellbender. I get the sense that base UT3 will be sort of meh, if pretty. The question is how well the mod community for UT3 will go. If I get it, its more buying the engine in anticipation for future mods than for the base game itself. If I can get a decent sample of the warfare gametype, I may change my tune. |

Tried it and i find the desings for the guns much better than in the previous UT's also the vehicles are somewhat better ( at least those i have already tried ) . Finally the AI is more of a challenge. The downside is( for those of us who have limited space on their harddisk) its goiing to take up a huge amount of memory

The rocket launcher still sounds terribly weak. The rest sound ok though. |
