HLEP2- Awesome striders, everything else is aweome

Cons-

Gordons always going to be a mute.

I'm glad The Orange Box has HL2Ep1 in it, cause i need it. And who really cares if its 6 maps, as long as they are amazing, it will suffice.

Pros: 5 games for the price of 1

HalfLife 2 and Ep1 are a free part of the package, you are only paying for the 3 new games.

Pros:
HL2 Ep2
Portal
TF2
HL2 & Ep1

Cons:
No idea

Aside from disliking steam, one thing that has bugged me was how there was no good combination of the various HL2 packs that would cover everything. Everything being HL1 Source, CS Source, Day of Defeat, HL2DM, HL2, HL2EP1, HL2EP2, TF2, Portal. There are umpteen pack combos and they always leave something out, so you have to effectively buy 3+ packs to get everything, with some overlap. Where's the freaking platinum-diamond pack with everything in one box? That is about the only combo pack that they haven't put out.

And to cover one response, I'm against downloading whatever I'm missing through steam. See above, I don't like steam. I go for physical products in a box with a disk that's mine. Thank you.

You haven't been doing your homework.

The Valve Complete Pack

Everything Valve has ever released, for a cool $100. That's a lot of gaming goodness right there.

One thing I like about Steam is that I no longer have to keep track of CDs and worry about them breaking. I own my Steam games for as long as Valve exists, and Valve doesn't look like they're going out of business any time soon.

Pros: Awesome Games, Great Price, LONG games. 99 Achievements! :)
The Song at the end of portal is sooooo good.

Cons:
Limited Multiplayer in the '360 version, just TF2. Or is that the norm?

TF2 is the only one you can play in multiplayer, HL2, HL2ep1 + 2 and portal are all Single player games.

I'm pretty sure you get HL2: Deathmatch with any purchase of HL2. I bought the Orange Box and gave a guy my old copy of HL2, and he was able to download HL2: Deathmatch as well.

Pros:

Hammer Editor is easy mapping, many people will make new maps soon for all games. I heard Angelmapper is trying to map for Portal. And as soon I get Portal, I probably get to doing the same.

Cons:

What has been made by the authors is small, good engine and many possibilities, but they didn't prepare many of these posibilities for us. Portal is short, HL2 Epi1 and 2 are short, TF2 has few maps, HL2 is very long though.

On a side note, I don't have the pack, but I do have HL2 and Epi1.\
I also got a hint for people, don't buy seperate games from valve! Go for packages, if I hadn't bought Hl2 Epi 1 seperate before, I would've saved 20 euros! And waiting a little while isn't too bad is it?

See it like this, I paid more to play Epi1 and Epi2, while I could wait for awhile for Epi1, and buy the 2 epies together and play them right in a row.
Also, waiting for Epi1 and Epi2 is much less painfull then waiting for Epi2 after you've played Epi1... Waiting time is the same... perhaps even less, because you need less money to collect.

Gordon is cool mute.. rather that than the crappy 'Unreal 2' route !mistrust

I will soon find out what the OB offers.. i get the feeling that it will be cool.. it is Valve ;)

Since we are talking about episodic games, that is hardly a con.

Portal didn't interest me nearly as much as HL2 Ep2. The gameplay is innovative and all, but I just prefer first person shooters.

yeah... multiplayer for any game like FPS, RTS, RPG, MMO in general just isn't my cup of tea anymore.....

MP is great if you're doing a LAN game, you can easily coordinate and you'll usually be with a bunch of your friends. Makes for a fun time. :D

Post subject:  Pros/Cons- the orange box

I'm not all that fond of multiplayer, with friends or strangers. But I haven't tried it enough to have a final opinion about it, plus I'm unlucky in terms of ping numbers most of the time...

Same, i really loved Episode 2, great gameplay, the Hunter battles were frantic and exciting and the addition of the strider buster bombs was really great, and the updated graphics were welcomed.

haven't played Episode 1 or 2 yet... I have played a little of Half life 2 and a LOT of portal mostly....

The part with the strider busters was extremely exciting. One of the better fights I have ever encountered in a game to date, the best thing is that it wasn't as challenging as I had expected; reading people's opinions about it.

Hunters shoot the strider-busters making them go off harmlessly. So you need to get rid of the hunters first.

About Portal, I've started mapping for it and i've come quite an end.
I've made several maps, and ill look if I can fit em all together and make a brand new small map pack.
