Umm RoyMustang, there's and edit button, i hope you know. I have it, don't have the expansion, but i uninstall it cause overall, its really pathetic gameplay, i mean, yes space combat is cool (major reason why i bought it), but even that is pretty lame. Onto quick explanation as to why EaW sucks. Yes they have hardpoints which if you destroy hurts the ship, but guess what, just making your units attack any damn ship will cause them to do such a thing. Scaling i pretty horrible, like the xwings and ties are quite large when put next to a frigate. I want to have it everything scaled correctly, like in the expansion, Darth Vader's flagship Executor (sure thats its name) goes in the map, but its like just long and i don't even think u can move it. Ground combat and units are pathetic, the units models are crude except the AT-AT, now thats cool, but the group formations are silly, when they die its silly, just falls back, it came out around the time of Age of Empires 3 did it not? So it should've used that engine or something like it to have physics in it. No matter what, overall the gameplay is repetitive and i'm a guy who's okay with repetitive gameplay, but jesus chirst EaW's is horrible, they don't even bother to spruce any of it up. Space combat should have been way more tactical then just pummeling the enemies hardpoints for turbo lasers and engines. Not enough units; they don't have the B-Wing, which would have been kickass, no other tie variants other than bomber and fighter, only two true capital ships, would have been cooler if there were way more types of ships. Also, space combat shouldn't have just happen at asteroids or space stations, yes that happens, but it would have been sweet if the galaxy map was in a style of a sort of Rome:Total War style where its turn based, but you can see (past your territory) what the enemy is doing, it would have been sweet if you could just hyperspace lanes if u wanted to, or to just move fleets in space in short jumps (it'd be like 1 day every turn) so you could easily move fleets fast enough, you could be attacked by enemies even if say you were just moving a fleet through some dead space. An ability to construct stuff wherever you needed to, like just some random rely station outside Hutt space (it should have had all systems) even this way, just having the game as a space combat game would have been better than what it actually came out as (which is why, i'm looking forward to Sins of a Solar Empire).Which brings me to another disappointment. 2D space combat. By 2D i mean its just played on a board, it would have been great if when in combat, you could command ships to move down, up, side and you get the point, fully 3D space, that would have made it great. Though the movie camera feature was real awesome, played most of the game watching it really. Graphics even at the time weren't amazing (even though my old PC could run space combat on high and ground on low). A saving grace for the game is that the shields when shot at has a great effect. The game should have had both the Rebel Alliance vs Empire and the galactic republic vs the Separatist confederation, that would have at least made it interesting, i was really hoping that even the expansion would be the whole Clone wars, bu alas, no. Reason being, tons of stuff happens, lots of units and it'd just make sense. This is just a taste of how disappointed i was when i got EaW, only reason i kept playing it was cause of space combat, even then, the AI for Skirmish mode sucks. In all truth, EaW shouldn't have been made, they should have made it a super deep space combat game (something like Rome:Total War, but in space, and in the Star Wars theme). |

That may be because noone here apart from you guys know anything about the StarWars game series. Since the last 3 movies destroyed our expectations, we no longer expect much from the game franchise and did not bother learning more about them. The only thing I know is that the Starwars fighting game where you duel with lightsabers was extremely fun. No clue about the rest. |

The only thing I know is that the Starwars fighting game where you duel with lightsabers was extremely fun. No clue about the rest. Yeah, many people fell that way. I do hate how parts of the prequels screwed it up, but i can forgive it (could have easily done with less romance in it... but hey the ep 4,5 and 6 had it). The huge battles in it more than made up for it and it helped (in my opinion) link Star Wars and make the story of it even more concrete. I'll always be a Star Wars fan (they're making some kind of Cartoon/ 3-D show to appear in 2008 (09) about the clone wars. Yeah, the whole Clone Wars animated series kicked ass, so much pre-Ep 3 clone trooper ownage (Attack of the Clones made them seem shitty and horrible fighters... always dying). |

if they would have made the AI a lot like age of Empires III, That would have kicked butt but I really think they should have spruced up the AI... |

Yeah, the AI was as dumb as a doorknob. My favorite part of the whole game was the capital ship battles, having massive Mon Calamari Crusiers plowing through lines of imperial frigates only to be beaten back by massive Star Destroyers. Which brings me to another annoyed point in EaW. Why does the Imperial Interdictor only pull stuff out in skirmish games and not in the conqueror the galaxy gametype? Cause it would have been awesome (going on with my Rome:Total War meets EaW game idea) jut placing them around specific hyper lanes and other key travel points to being the rebels out way before, then you could move a whole fleet to them and destroy them. |

In the Lord of the Rings games, the AI is pretty smart.... The AI is really spruced up.. but back to empire at War, I liked space battles a lot but man they were hard too at times |

Yeah, they were at points quite hard. 1 thing i felt really took away from the whole thing was how you had to capture mines and other floating things for resources and so on, it would have been cooler if you just (for skirmish anyways) just setting the amount of resources you get, then you say from your space station buying trade lanes to have supplies delivered to you, so your more or less only use the money to buy upgrades, trade lanes (more money... i mean credits) and ships. i think that would have been neater. As a whole, to me, the galaxy maps didn't seem all that real time, cause no matter what when you enter combat, everything stops more or less. I'd be cool if it had been done the way that Sins of a Solar Empire has done it, being all real time, with instant zoom in and out of planets and systems, with the planets really being their and not just a wallpaper of sorts in the background. |

I am also getting rid of the Lord of the Rings Battle For Middle Earth games because the AI is really Spruced up.... I would much rather play AOEIII and the expansions or Dawn of War and the Expansions |

Yeah, i also had BFME, its alright for a license game, but nothing amazing about it. The whole economy and building placement was just silly. |

I was thinking of getting the C&C 3 game, but decided against it cause of AoE3 and Company of Heroes. You ever play Company of Heroes Roy? Also, another real great RTS is World in Conflict, its kind of not base building, just fast paced action. |
