With all these new games coming out i thought i should do a thread about which ones youre looking to the most and why.

At the moment i can't decide between stalker clear sky or far cry 2. Although Far cry will have brilliant graphics and a huge 50km world! The origional stalker had the best atmosphere i have ever seen. even compared to movies.

Of course i am also looking forward to the ever closer ut3 and crysis but they are not quite on the same par as the two above.

I was also wondering how well my enhanced 8600 gt graphics card will be able to play far cry 2 as i already know it can handle the other three but i don't want to upgrade. I also have this weird thing where it plays all these new games really smoothly but oldish ones like 2k4 are lagorifik. Ever heard of this problem before?

thats where we are.

I would go for UT3 and FarCry 2.
Crysis looks fun too, but I wait with that awhile.
And stalker, what is that? XD

Well while I am here I have to say im hyped about StarCraft 2, I have been following its progress since its accouncement.

Im keeping a close eye on UT3 also.

Later on I would not mind getting my hands on Halo 2 PC, Gears PC, Halo Wars PC and The Black Mesa mod

Me, right now i'm most interested in.

UT3 = much more fun gameplay and story
Crysis = seems off from what i usually play, plus it looks so nice
Age of Empires 3: dynasties = AoE3 with samurai's what can be better? NOTHING!
Sins of a Solar Empire = a true space combat empire game (unlike EaW)

Stalker is amazing it was the most atmospheric game of 2007 and my favourite to date. 4 years in the future there is a fictional 2nd explosion in chernobyl and soon loads of weird creatures and mutants started apprearing !alien The military placed a quarantine but soon lots of theives, outlaws, scientists and curious people started sneaking through expecting treasures, or information to be used in science. These people became known as stalkers.

There are 14 levels each averaging about 3km2, and it is a free roam enviroment with semi linear gameplay set in apocalyctip setting. there are probably around 30-40 weapons with mountable scopes/grenade leanchers and silencers.

I highly recommend this game!

Clear sky is to be released Q1 of 2008 and is probably my most eagerly awaited game this year !lol

How could I forget Clear Sky? Let's add that to my list, without a doubt.

By the way, Stalker is one of the best games in history. Plain and simple. It exceeds perfection in terms of atmosphere, has addicting gameplay and beautiful graphics & audio.

This is one of the few recent games that don't hold the player's hand throughout. Bioshock is an example of a disaster in that regard, you actually need to think a lot in order to get by in Stalker.

I got Bioshock, but I can't really get past the medical pavillion before it crashes and all save games get corrupt. But that's my uncles PC, I'm bringing the CD over once.

With Bioshock so far, it looks alot like Half Life 2 and such, only with a little more side rooms and places you can go to look for pickups. Later on, can the player move freely around rapture like in Oblivion? Or is the player stuck in the story line and can't break off to play on his own?

Don't forget the excellent story and sheer brilliance of setting in stalker!!!

I havn't played bioshock and was wandering how good it actually is and wether you would reccomend it.

Yeah, great game. Lovely story, great environments and it has (no... not a crowbar) A wrench!

Wrenches are better! You can smash like a crowbar but also tighten things!

Bioshock? I think it's a decent game, but if you saw any of the promises Irrational Games made during development, then the feeling of disappointment will be stronger than you ever felt before.

deus ex 3 anyone? i heard that EA games are working on system shock 3 but its only a rumor and if they do they better damn well do a good job on it or there will be some law suits from ss2 fans :D

EA is doing it, therefore set your laywers on standby.

EA has a nasty habit of messing things up then kicking you in the balls with the new product.

EA making a System Shock 3? Shit. . .
They are incapable of creating a moderately complex game, let alone a sequel to one of the most complex FPS series in history. I imagine a SS3 from EA would be more linear than a long, straight corridor, and so simplistic that one would think their target playerbase were monkeys.

Bioshock's target audience were obviously monkeys, so you can imagine why I'm worried here.

I wanna get......

UT3 for my mac and my PS3
Crysis and Far Cry 2 for my PS3
Guitar Hero3 for my PS3(which is already out)
Gears of War for my mac(yep thats right, gears on mac =D )
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for my mac
Call of Duty 4 for my Mac and PS3

I will probably not get even half of those games this year, I am not a big money spender or someone who plays video games a lot. If I got some of them for a present here and there for a holiday or something that would be cool(from my family of course). I want a mac game that comes with an Editor....UT3 im looking at you! (since I've started working early in the summer i have saved almost $1,500-american, i have only cashed one paycheck for my own use. I only work 12 hours a week so my checks aren't huge)

Another game i was wondering about... Have any of you played oblivion? And if so would you reccomend it?

I never played the origional system shocks but now i feel they are too dated for me to bother with. How absolutely brilliant are they?

Oblivion rocks, although it's not the newest game anymore, it still looks awesome and has great gameplay.

You got a big free area to run around in, you can kill anyone you like, you can steal mostly anything you like, there are many, many, many caves, old castles and ancient ruins to find treasures in, magic stuff is cool, stealth system is cool, skill system is very nice, graphics pwn on Ultra High ^^

And somewhat more, in any case, the gameplay and graphics are both very good.

System Shock 1 is enough dated that you'd have a hell of a time getting it to run on any modern PC, and the way you control the character is something that can take a while to get used to as well. But if you get past those two; you got a great experience ahead.

As for System Shock 2, much easier to get it running and has the same type of controls as we are used to these days. Compare SS1 in 1994 to SS2 in 1999, many things happened in between. ;)

You can get SS1 for free, with google search for the TTLG forums. They host the forums for the Shock games, there you can find download links. But SS2 however needs to be bought.

In my opinion, SShock 2 is the better of the two. Playing such an old game like SS1 today does degrade experience because of us being used to more modern control systems, but SS2 doesn't suffer from that. Dated graphics yes, but it does look damn good from an atmospheric point of view.

There are few sequels to many things that are actually better then the first, but enough to name alot of them.

The Elder Scrolls do a good job improving with every game they make, the gap between Morrowind and Oblivion is huge in gameplay and graphics.

I expect Epic games to make a good UT3 compared to UT2004. UT2003 was a crap sequel but they made it good with UT2004. Now I would love to see another succesfull sequel.

Valve is doing a very good job aswell, HL1 and HL2 is a great difference in gameplay and graphics, but episode 1 wasn't a good sequel, I hope that episode 2 makes up the difference.
