Can anyone point me towards a good tutorial for skinning a weapon, such as how to do the grooves on the clips, and pretty well anything, I already UV mapped it, so I don't need that step. Thanks EDIT: Also, if anyone here with experience with them, such as the Runestorm people, or any other modders, please also post any helpful hints

aaaah.. well.. i didn't use any tutorials..
i just went nuts.. maybe you'll want to study weapon skin texture from whatever game you can find.. it helps.. it just takes time, practise, etc
not many hints to give, except maybe this: USE THE AIRBRUSH! it's the most important part.. i basically only use it and little else
study stuff in RL as well.. see how the light affects the object, how scratches look, how grooves look, how peeling paint looks, that sort of thing..

Well here is my collection, this first is the T92F Frag Grenade, a very simple explosive grenade with a 5, 2.5, or impact fuse. [br] This is a clip I am designing (and texturing, from now on I plan on UVMap/Texture as I go, as it is hard for me to go back and do it later) [br] This gun was the original lower-poly verson on the gun I am making for the above clip, known as the P2399AR (Assault Rifle) and the P2399C (Carbine, the pictured version below). The first two were made in 3dsmax, but this one was made in gmax, hence the non-render
EDIT: Hmmf... my clip is too fat/short for my remake...

i like the grenade, it looks cool.
The gun is pretty neat, could use a little more detail if possible but its alright. I dont see why your making a big deal about the clip of the assault rifle(or w/e it is). Make the clip the shape you want it to be and then scale it so it fits the clip holder of the weapon. It shouldnt be hard to make, just as long as you arent loading it with a bunch of detail. Also I think its good to not have the clip attached to the model.... so Animations can be done easier(or something along the lines of that). |

I'm liking the frag grenade, also, nice detail on that clip. And i can't wait to see the end result of that carbine. |

The grenade looks cool, but it doesn't really look like a frag grenade. It looks more high-tech, like an EMP grenade or something. The gun model is pretty cool, except for the weapon grip. It's too blocky and straight. Maybe tilt the bottom back a bit, and give it a more ergonomic shape. Also, any way you can make it a bullpup weapon? We're kinda lacking in that department. |

bullpup weapon? way ahead of you on that (hint hint)
i agree about the blockyness of the grip, as well as some as the other weapon areas. |

I see the deal with the grip, but remember it is my first time modeling a gun with over 2000 polygons (I first modeled for RTS, so a gun would be at most 75 polys ) I will put that for future reference though.
The grenade isn't textured so you can't see it, but the part with the four supports is/will be a glowing energy core. The grenade is about the size of a soda can, albeit a bit longer. It also doesn't shoot out shrapnel like modern frag grenades, but is actually a fusion explosion. But I can see what you mean by EMP grenade
In terms of a bullpup weapon, the Skorpshjuze Republican Armed Forces does not have many, if at all bullpup weapons. However, the Nekoketsukei National Army has quite a stock of them
I am studying runestorm textures (and have been before I even posted) and I have started to use the layers styles, a feature I never really used. So far I am getting some decent results from them. |

whats RTS? also, was the model that had 2000 polygons triangulated or something? 2000 polygons seems unreal for the first time modeling a gun(or maybe it had a bunch of uneeded polys?). |

I thought he meant RTS as in the name of some game development team(like RS... and he never said what game), thats how it sounded to me any ways. |
