I recently had a system recovery, but I am a little confused on this topic. When I perform a System Recovery, I know all software applications need to be re-installed. I just wanted to confirm this: When I reinstall applications, do I have to delete all their files and reinstall it from scratch? Or do I just put in the game disk? Last time I just put in the disk and it goes it through the installation process quickly. It also works, but I don't know if that messes up my comp. |

Installing software is just file extraction. If you install a program to the same folder as before, it will simply replace the old files. This method could cause version mismatches though, assuming you are replacing a newer version of a program with an older version. |

Ok, well....you first of all need to "define" a "system recovery", as it could be done in a varity of ways (a brief description of what was done needed)... If you need to install software, you can simply check by what's in your "Add/Remove Programs" list (in the control panel). If you are re-installing software, then it is best to delete any old files for what ever you are installing first, providing it is not in Add/Remove Programs, in which case, check first, maybe it still works, or you can run it's installation, and select the "repair" option if it has one... |

Yes, but I'd still advice to remove every file from a previous installation, then install again and apply patches and such. That way you can't get version mismatches or other such software headaches. |
