You guys aren't helping much... Try looking for some self-help forums, I'm sure there is a lot of resources out there to help you quit smoking. |

I never did any smoking, but have some ideas, aside from spending ungodly amounts of money on fads. Do not give yourself access to cigaretts. Temptation is the culprit of every selfish act. A friend of mine said that when he failingly tried to quit, he became an annoying, abusive pest to all around him (even more so than before attempting to quit). If this happens to you, be prepared to beat yourself into submission. Inform everyone around you that you are quitting and ask them to slap you if you even think of picking up a cigarret |

This isn't a I'm-trying-to-quit-smoking forum, if he wants help he should go where the actual help is located; the kind of place you suggested. |

You could at least be something sort of like supportive... |

He chose to start smoking. I see no reason to support it when people are climbing out of a hole they dug themselves. This is just my personal point of view. If people seek assistance, it is best to look in special quit-smoking type of websites. The best way to learn the tactics is to hear from people that have been through it all and (some) succeeded. |

That is not true. Well, not for every person that gives the cigarette a try. |

the nicotine in the cigarette also constricts the blood veins makeing them smaller, and the other chemicals cause plaque to build up and creates blood clots in your blood stream, also a single cigarette has 4000 chemicals in it, or more or less forgot the exact amount. theres also a chemical found in rat poisin in them as well ans alot of other poisin and cancer causing chemicals. |

The amount of chemicals says nothing, how much of each chemical is what counts. It may be full of dangers, but if they are in very small doses a single cigarette doesn't do much harm, it is the addiction that does. |

Incorrect, you dont get addicted till your body accepts the nicotine/chemicles and becomes dependent on them to allow you to feel good and or function correctly. I have smoked before, and do from time to time...... (i have friends who are stoners so im always around ciggs or something else) I dont smoke pot thanks

If you can't live without the time to time moments, you are addicted. |

Since we're talking morals and opinions, I do. People should lern from past mistakes, but let's not let them prevent future recoveries. I'm sure that the pain of quitting would be a just consequence if it makes you any happier, Bjossi. |

My partents used to smoke, too, but they quit before having kids. No drugs or gimmiks, just "enough is enough, I'm not gonna do it anymore". There is no substitute for discipline and determination. Maybe you just need to get a good enough reason to endure a little suffering. |

It's a 1on1; willpower vs. the body. The brain wants nicotine, and you want to quit. |

Effectively you ARE the brain... The problem with most people is,they don't want to quit. |

The brain and you often disagree, so that is just partly true. Take smoking for an example. Brain wants nicotine, you don't want to give it to him. |
