I've got this problem I can't get rid off, and Dad isn't too helpfull in anyway.

The problem is simple. I get sudden unexplained bluescreens in the middle of a computer game.
X3 Reunion in particular (and Oblivion lately). The crashes are completely random, appear sometimes 5 seconds after loading a safegame, and sometimes the game runs all day long.

We got a Radeon X1900 video cart with ATI drivers. The bluescreen messages are either these 2:
NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS
0x0000000A

or
DRIVER_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS
0x0000000D1

I'm getting sick of this game crashing on random occasions. UT2004 and games from that age work fine. UT3 has completely been screwed up, X3Reunion random crashes, Oblivion crashes frequently enough to make you not wanna play it, Half Life 2 (not the epi's(not tested yet)) suddenly shows problems.

Half Life 2 is strangely crashing only lately. What could be wrong that more and more games become victim of this crappy stuff going on?

btw. this PC is a Medion Pentium 4 which should run (as it once did) those games without any problem smoothly on highest graphics.
And I forgot to note, graphics are not the problem. there is not a single difference of random crashes if its on low graphics or high graphics.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update/reInstall ATi drivers.

Try Bjossi's suggestion first, but:

[ DRIVER_ ] NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS error points to a hardware problem, and normaly RAM with that message.

Try re-seating the RAM modules. Also check they are not overheating (with PC just switched off they should be warm, but not so hot that it feels uncomfortable to the touch).

If you have more than 1 module, try running without the one module and see what happens. If you still get the problem, swop them and see then. Still have a problem, then either the modules are over heating, or some other component is failing.

REMEMBER: Make sure the power cord is removed from the PC before opening and trying anything!

Make shure fan on videocard is working.
I had blue screens because of lots of dust accumulated on fan so it stopped working, and videocard got overheated.

I doubt its the heat. There's one massive vent on it.

I can hear the air wooshing out when he's running on full, but strangely, he only does that (running on full) when the PC starts.

I doubt its the heat, but it could be possible.
It aint dust I checked that not long ago.

Have you tried reInstalling or updating video drivers Bulska?

we recently have a new driver... but that didnt change the crashin problems at all.

But I do get blue screens instead of just shutting down after the new driver.

Driver choice is a hit & miss thing. Just updating to a newer version ain't gonna cut it, you have to read a bit about other people's experience and find the one that suits your gaming best in terms of stability.
Newer ain't always better.

Blame ATi for their shitty drivers. That would be blaming the CORRECT suspect for a change. nVidia are no better, it took me a while to find the messiah of nV drivers; v162.18.

Windows is actualy a very stable product. But it is sensitive to hardware and 3rd party software.
70% of Windows problems are hardware related, the remaining is drivers and other software causing problems.

Windows isn't only crappy in that it cannot handle 3rd party stuff (Microsoft did this on purpose probably, to increase their own market), It also gives me the feeling it does alot of unnessecary work for the computer.

Saying Windows can't handle 3rd party software is nothing but a big pile of bullshit.
