Just curious. I, for example, love the effects in GoW, where you can carve up an enemy with your chainsaw. My character goes through an animation of slicing through the enemie's torso with a gyser of blood and guts shooting out and blood dripping down the screen, then giggle when I see that one of the bloody legs is still standing. I also like the BW blood effects, where you blow up somebody with an RPG and suddenly half the room is covered in blood and giblets from floor to ceiling with a disembodied head flying right past me, leaving a trail of blood, of course. I can laughg at that knowing it's all fun and games, but if I see anything worse than a paper cut in real life, I feel a little queasy. Even just seeing blood in real life does that to me. |

Well, games are only fictions... Plus, it's not a movie, it's not something you see without having the possibility to act. In games, you get what you will never get in real life and you can discharge all of your frustration into them with no consequences
Everything wich is forbidden in real life, you get it in video games. I don't think violent games engender violent poeple, it's more a question of mentality (with UT we would already all be a bunch of mad psychotic poeple killing for pleasure), instead they remove your stress
Sometimes it's like a stress toy, you can imagine killing and torturing your boss for a bad day at work ! (at least it happened to me, making in game poeple pay for that bad day... but I'm not a violent person though) Ironically, it's calming ! Well, that's what I think of Gory and Violent games

I like blood and gore for an extra effect of me shooting bad guys. It would be one dull shooter if nothing happened except a body falling to the floor when you shoot. Even old games like Quake have a satisfying blood effect, which is displayed on the form of red particles. |

Blood And Gore is just a part of any T or M rated game. Primarily it's used toward realism, becase if you shoot or whack someone, they naturally have bloodpools when they die. However it contrasts realism because a bullet to the head doesn't mean it explodes into tiny little bits (unless it's a up close shotgun blast to the head) However as mentioned in the Gaza thread, there is a fine line between Reality and Fiction. Real Gore is somewhat crude and disgusting (unless you're a vulture) however in anatomy it does serve useful for knowing where the human parts are. Video Game Blood is pleasing because it's not really crude or disgusting but some people don't like it, and wanted it banned from the community. I myself knows the difference between Real and Video game blood. But others like Jack and others do not like it because it may cause mental problems and thinks that if they play bad video games, they kill people. Blood and gore are just standards of video games.

It gives me a reason to overkill that guy over there or a reason to toss a grenade right next to his foot when he doesn't realize it. For me a game without gore would be like pizza without sauce. Or toast without butter. |

Satisfaction, and realism factor. There's just something fun about dropping on artillery barrage on a swarm of psychotic robots and aliens, with a few humans mixed in, with chainguns, and watching them explode into tiny pieces while more come in their place, blood gathering more and more on the field. It's just dang cool, yet also can show the horrors of war. In a way, that is... something tells me we won't have super-vapourizing, spamtastic lighting guns that transmit plasma energy directly into the foe any time soon... |

thats pretty damn nasty Colossus... anyway, gore just seems to be part of games.. perhaps most developers go with violence and such because it's just standard.. Me, i think its satisfying to annihilate your enemies with all the gory effects.. especially if the lil' bastard is really annoying you

Naturally, reality does realistic stuff better than games. |

Let's just limit the gory war stories to our games, okay...? I just lost my appetite right there... |

Words aren't as disturbing as real life experience. |

Speaking of real life, lemme tell you about a time when my Eagle Scout brother was pumpkin carving... I just wish there were gory games besides the standard "Shoot things that move" like UT and "Whack a Mole" like Mortal Combat. Wouldn't your average mmorpg, such as WoW or Guild Wars, be better if blood want spraying out every time you impale someone with your sword (Even though such a move only does about 10% damage) |

Okay, so let's just avoid to talk about what happened in Germany (about Rammstein song : Mein Teil)
I would be afraid to see a video game about this
Anyway, it's always fun to be that sadistic guy you'll never be in real life

Undestructable ! (Exept when he was beaten by Bruce Lee in is early carrier) And stronger than Chuck Norris => Steven Seagal ! |

The question of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object, was answered when Chuck Norris punched himself in the face. |
