What intrigues me is the arrows pointing to the holes, and the numbers 1 and 2. And that is where I come to the conclusion that it tels you where to insert your pencil to sharpen it, and that it has different sharpeners for #2 pencils and #1 pencils, though I never knew they made #1 pencils...

I suppose if it is infernal it would have some weird quirk like that.

I think that it is RS plans to dominate the world.
that device has the capacity to infiltrate in your IP, then get your bank account password, hack it, and discover your real adress.

then, RS sends to your house a mail.once you open it, it has a small liquid. once touched, it sucks your soul and than goes back to RS headquarters. that ball is the RS soulmachine, codenamed "archon". with those souls, they make experiments to create a fully functional Dark star/nova Staff. then, thay will use innocent bio-enginnered animals to test the power of the weapons.ironically called "bots".

once the weapons are useful, they go to the street and shot at people. after that, they will create a nuclear device, and if the governors don't give their territories to RS, then RS will explode and kill all humans.

that orb is the so called Soul machine.ITS HERE WHERE YOUR SOUL WILL BE IN 3 MONTHS!!!

we have sufficient proofs for that. RS developers show interest in new members, as we can see in some greetings messages:

Hilariously enough, there is already a tabletop blood-sport game. "Blood Bowl" A form of football in Warhammer Fantasy, where all the races (And I really do mean ALL of them! Even undead! AND CHAOS!) slam the crap of out of each other to get the ball to the other side of the field, or simply to kill each other off. Awww man, now I can't stop thinking about playing a game or mod for that......

I think that Orb is a model made by SB and brought into UT3.

I worked with UT3, I know the graphics a bit. And this looks very like UT3.

oh wait, thats subtraction.
back on topic, my guess is that the "orb" is a anchient artifact from the lands of the fairytale lands where the little lamb, who discoverd the magical orb and took it because its shiny and pretty.
but little did the lamb knew,it protected there world form the evils beyond. after the lamb took the protective orb, the sky turend red and soviet space crusers came from the sky and launched a full scale invasion. after destroying all life and mined it into a wasteland and leeched of its unrenewable resourses,
they discoverd an orb and took it back to ther labs to study it.
thats my guess.
