I had a week for half term, then 2 days of school, then my final AS exam, then a week and a half off, then a week of careers advice (the school trying to convice me to apply for oxbridge); and now I hve 4 1/2 weeks of A2 work (bound to be the hottest since records began, and we have a deputy head teacher who wears a curtain and is obsessed with making us wear our uniform) before the 6 week summer holiday. @headhunter (and foreigners in general) English and Welsh (Scotland is managed seperatly) school runs from 4/5th september to 20-25th july. Two weeks off for christmas and easter, with a week off at half term. They want to scrap the 3 term year and give us 6 terms, making the holidays all 2 weeks and taking away our 7 week summer. But since I'm in year 12, I only have 1 year of school left anyway, so it doesn't matter to me anyhow. School is split into primary (yr1-yr6), secondary (yr7-yr11) and XI form (yr12/13). Everyone is in uniform, though XI form has some freedom. The UK is too small for states, although you could consider the 3 countries other than England to be 'states'. The Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and the Isles of Scily are not part of the UK (like the rest of out dimineshed empire). Hope you've all learned something new. |

Mine is split like this: 1-5 Elementary school. 6-8 Middle school. 9-12 High school. We start school at about september 4ish and finish school at about June 18. (we make up school days that were cancelled because of snow or whatever it might be) There is thanksgiving break (3 days), winter break 2 weeks), spring break (1week), and numerous other breaks (1-2 days). |

No thanksgiving break here, and no thanksgiving either. My winter break lasts for 3 weeks or so, spring break for 2 weeks, and there are no smaller breaks unless something unexpected comes up at my school... |

I know that there is lots of volcanos there, not sure if it is true or not (heard it from a book). I could go find out more about Iceland, but why would I, eh? |

Iceland's existence originates from volcanic eruptions, so naturally we got a plethora of volcanoes and earthquakes here. It is usually less than a decade between two major earthquakes. |
