Post subject:  3 favourite first person shooters and 3 most anticipated
Share opinions and talk about the various merits of different shooters. (please dont class the orange box as one game, that always pisses me of :D)

In first Place for me... It has to be HL2. The Graphics are good, the gameplay is great, the story is great, the atmosphere is great... It really immerses you into its world.

Second place goes to Call of duty 4! Graphics are great, Gameplay is great, and the atmosphere, with all the explosions going on around you makes you feel like your there. Also the choice of weapons is amazing. Plus the Perks add an awesome twist.

third place... Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. There is no other experience like it. The atmosphere is so spooky and so awesome. One of the scariest games of all time, this unpolished gem is definately one of the best. With realistic firefights (apart from damage) and an open world I would reccomend this to all Fps OR Rpg fans.



The FPS I am looking forward to most at the moment has to be Far Cry 2. The 50KM open world looks phenomenal. As do the Graphics. Plus it is taking place in a relatively new location. Even if the gameplay is less than we would hope for this will still be a game to remember. I will need a new PC to play this however.

Second place for most anticipated game has to be Stalker Clear sky which is coming out in Augast. Prequel to shadow of chernobyl I hope this will be what SOC set out to be.

And finally HL2 EP.3 is my third most anticipated game. More of the same I hope. (Plus EP.2 left me crying and I want to go kill me some advisors)

My favorite first person shooter games...

For sure UT2004, fast action and unlimited possibilities with the game rules. UT3 has too little things people can change the game rules with.

Yeah Call Of Duty 4 is also in my list. Same reason as LtCliff, very nice designed game.

Team Fortress 2. Very nice game to play with all it's different classes. Too little map variation but that doesn't bother me at all. Team play is essential, which is sometimes bad and good, depending on which side you are.


I'm really waiting for HL2 Epi3 to come out.
I don't really have 2 other FPS games I'm waiting for...

Favorite FPSs:

1) Duke Nukem 3D - cool story, oh wait is there any? Who cares, Duke FTW!
2) Call of Duty 4 - lots of very well executed pew pew.
3) UT3 - what can be said about this one ? Grab your mouse and keyboard and start shooting things.

Waiting for:

1) Far Cry 2
2) Project Origin

Well i'm more of a RTS or RPG player, make a thread about them. :)

Half Life 2 : Amazing and excellent storytelling, the best in ANY videogame i've ever played (Bioshock is a good second). Exceptional graphics that even after 3-4 years look great (still love CSS).

Call of Duty: Probably the best WW2 shooter to date (if Day of Defeat Source had a SP campaign it would probably be here instead (weapons are so much fun), the orginal i found was exciting, creative and just epic... moving across the Volga river onto the shattered shoreline of Stalingrad for the first time, under fire from Stuka dive bombers, crazy rushes, amazingly fun to use weapons and just a acrade-like WW2 shooter but still really felt like a WW2 game.

Halo series: Another game (series) with a wonderful sci-fi story, humanity pushed to the brink, until the end of Halo 3, we didn't know any of this would end. The campaigns are fun, unqiue enemies and story, and awesome multiplayer make this a super awesome series. Halo 3 is my fav of the 3, then Halo then Halo 2.

Right now, I'm waiting for Half Life 2 Episode 3 at E3... God i cannot wait.

Band of Brothers: Hell's Highway: Really excited for this one, never has any game been like an anti-victory... trapped along Hell's Highway against 2 full Panzer SS divisions you gotta get out of hell, and i am really looking forward to it.

Left 4 Dead: A 4 man co-op zombie survival game? Count me in

Also I'll just add in Dead Space... like its a tactical zombie shootter... cept its 3rd person, but whatever.
And Gears of War 2... i liked the original, but it needed alot more story flushed out and atmosphere.. hopefully GoW2 does just that.

Battlefield 2 This is not so much for the actual game, but for the realistic vietnam EoD2 and WWII FH2; the imaginary conflict of POE2 and the singleplayerness of AIX.

UT2004 Again, this is more for BW and for the RO mod. Unlike BF2, I never really got round to playing this online because there was better singleplayer and my internet was (and still is) crap.

MOH Rising Sun This was the first FPS that I ever was 'good' at (I played Duke Nukem earlier but for some reason was useless at it). I even spent just one whole day with my brother playing through the 2 player campaign.

Looking forward to: HL2! Shocking isn't it, but this I have never played and yet always wanted to.
BF3 Maybe DICE can get this one right...
CoD5 I sort of missed out on CoD4 and the modern era is boring. I liked the gameplay in the first PS2 CoD

UT2004, I just like how you can change so much, the possibilities are endless with it!

HL2, i prefer the original to the sequels.

Killzone, i love the graphics and weapons.

UT Series- Always fun to play and has downloadable content, increasing replay life greatly.

Serious Sam SE- Damn Fun, the Tommygun kicks butt, and Sam has the best voice ever.

Bioshock- Holy crap, this game is awe inspiring, Cool enemies, it may not have much weapons, but the Plasmids make up for it

I would have something to wait for, but since I lack a X360, no GOW2. T_T

Well, I have to admit that due to lack of funds I only rarely buy a game. Most I own are actually Christmas presents.

So, the Orange Box. Three questions: 1) Does it have the original HL2 in it? 2) Can I buy it in a physical form? (because downloading more than 2GB is a nightmare. I have to do it during school or at night because it takes about 7 hours without anyone else using the internet) 3) How much will it cost me? (in £)

3 top games evar? A tough one but here are ones I picked, though I can't place them in any particular order:
Unreal, STALKER and Serious Sam 2nd Encounter

Most anticipated? That would be STALKER: Clear Sky and Project Origin.

3-Perfec Dark 64 (is old, i know, but i dont care)
4-Deus Ex

Call of Duty 5 will be in the WWII scene again, Call of Duty 6 will be made by Infinity Ward again and will be a sequel on Call of Duty 4.

I'm not a fan of WWII games.

As long as they are well made, WW2 games can be fun. I don't make it a habit of judging a game based on the theme alone.

I played a lot of them. Medal of Honor + expansions, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Call of Duty, BattleField 1945, it just doesn't attract me.

I think COD5 will be different. Yes it is being made by Treyarch but after reading through a preview it actually looks really good.

The japanese were very good at guerrila warfare and the game is going to include stuff like ambushes where the japanese were pretending to be dead, and snipers up in the trees, Plus theres a flamethrower :D.

The multiplayer is also gonna be the same as cod4 with perks and the such, some even the same. It is also gonna include multiplayer vehicular warfare and... swimming!

I really need to start getting into the CoD series one of these days, just waiting for a collection pack I guess; where the games are all bundled into one package. I'm not going to buy them all separately...
