Seems from what this article says, that we'll be able to rip games onto the harddrive and then we won't need to put the DVD in.

I'd defiantly do that for Halo Wars... Sucks though i only have like 9 gigs on the damn thing.

btw, does anyone know if i could buy a new harddrive and scarp the old one and use my gamertag in the new harddrive?

Ugh, sounds like what the PS3 has going (even though I only have 3 games for the PS3 just yet). Seems a bit much to install stuff (even worse if there isn't a choice) considering that the HDD space is small (compared to what's available)

I'd much prefer playing games straight from the disc, and keep the hard disk free for things like movies, add-ons, demos and that. Swapping discs would be a minor inconvenience compared to "WTF? NO SPACE TO INSTALL!?!?!?!?!"

This is going to lead to rental installs...

But will the option of installation be available on games released before it's introduced (if it's introduced)?

That'll probably put alot pressure on rental stores though, since it's either sell it like a PC game (no returns, even if it doesn't work, not sure if it's any different outside of Ireland) or don't deal with that particular game at all...

In other words.... all X360 games pretty much.

Yes, you can transfer stuff from your old hard drive to your new hard drive.

I bought one of the Xbox 360 Elites with the 120 GB hard drive and it came with a cable for easy transfer.

Either rental stores will stop renting games to people, or they will work with Microsoft to get a copy-protection up and running.

Ha, then the 360 wills practically be a PC just without web and word capabilities.

That has been the path of consoles for a long time, look at the PS3 for example. They are becoming idiot-proof versions of the PC.
